Chapter 16: Look beneath the surface, and you’ll be surprised at what you find

Logan and I went to bed without saying another word last night. He held me in his arms all night, but something felt different─off. It’s a stressful situation for all of us. Especially for Logan, who probably feels the sting of someone invading his territory. I know I should ask him what’s wrong. However, a part of me is petrified to know what he might say, so I remain silent.
This morning, I watch as he rises from the bed and begins to dress. “Where are you going?” I ask sleepily.
Logan looks back at me from over his shoulder, his firm ass and muscled back flexing. “I have to go and question our intruders, Kitten.”
