Chapter 17 We went back through the wall, an experience just as horrifying as the first time, then picked our way down the alley of slimy cobblestones towards the comforting streetlight that stood on the sidewalk we had left behind what felt like hours before. When we reached it and saw not a single car moving through the quiet streets of St. Paul in the dead of night, we realized it had been hours. It was closer to dawn than midnight, but not so close that even milkmen were stirring yet. Worse, it was snowing like mad.
