Chapter 3 All three of us were early risers, and we had set up the time for our conference calls around the fact that Brianna and Sophie were both in the eastern time zone, so when I glanced at my watch after Sophie hung up, I saw it was not even eight in the morning yet. Not quite eight, and yet I felt totally ready for bed. The coffee was room temperature by now, but I carried it with me as I headed upstairs to my bedroom. Or more specifically, to my cellphone. The little blue light was flashing patiently, waiting for me to notice. I unplugged it from the charger and sat on the edge of the bed as I scrolled through the notifications. So many notifications.
