Although the saying of a hero saving a beauty was true, my kindness was rewarded with revenge in which I was imprisoned for three years. Once I was released, my parents severed all ties with me while my girlfriend found solace in the arms of another. However, the woman whom I had rescued ended up being my direct boss and as I watched her living a happy life, I decided that I would retaliate against her for the hardships I suffered!

I would make her my woman!

Chapter 1 - She Ruined My Entire Life
If I could turn back time, I would never have saved that woman—even if it meant that I stood still and watched as she… That fateful night, I was in a hotel having a meal with my client. As I was walking past one of the private rooms, I heard a weak voice crying for help. I rushed into the room and found a beautiful woman being held under a man. Her clothes were in disarray with her chest uncovered, and her legs were pushed apart. She looked at me with tear-stricken eyes, her gaze pleading and filled with hope. I felt a surge of pity as I rushed into action. I immediately pulled the obese guy off her and started beating him up, and the woman seized the opportunity to escape. When she brushed past me, I caught a glimpse of her voluminous curves and breathtakingly beautiful face, though she looked horrified at the moment. As for the obese guy, he was in a drunken daze as he cursed at me while I bashed his head in. The hotel management quickly called the police, and I was taken into custody. That was the start of the darkest days of my life. The obese guy said that I pummeled him for no reason and that I had given him a concussion that caused irreparable damage. He sued me for assault and demanded that I pay for his medical fees. I insisted that I was preventing a crime from happening, but the police later told me that there was no evidence of a woman being there that night. The hotel's surveillance system had gone down, so there was no video evidence either. The only thing they knew for sure was that I had beaten the obese guy up. I was beginning to fear the outcome, but I still hoped that the woman would come to my defense. Unfortunately, I was wrong to have hoped. That beautiful woman had disappeared into thin air and never came forward. In the end, I was given a three-year prison sentence for the crime of intentional assault. I had to pay over forty thousand in medical fees and compensation for causing emotional damage. My savings after four years of hard work was instantly wiped out. When the news of my prison sentence reached my family, my proud father's illness recurred and he nearly passed away. As for my mother, she spent days crying her eyes out. It was moments before I started serving my sentence when my girlfriend of five years told me that she would wait for me, but her visits grew few and far between until she finally sent me a letter saying that she was breaking up with me. She did not want to wait for me any longer. My time in prison was the darkest period of my life. I became volatile and quick to anger, so I often got into fights with other people and ended up with a body full of terrifying scars. I rushed to salvage my relationship after being released from prison. However, when I found my girlfriend who once promised to wait for me, I saw her clinging to another man's arm. He was a handsome and confident man who drove an Audi A8. When they stood there together, they looked like the perfect couple. I was floored. I wanted to storm up to her in anger to question her, but I quickly gave up on that idea. Instead, I stood there in a daze as I watched her climb into his Audi and disappear from my sight. I thought about the last sentence in her letter which read, 'Richard, I found someone as good as you. Forget about me.' I laughed bitterly as I roamed the streets of Sherdon alone. I spent the day smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol. When I finally tired myself out, I simply fell to the side of the streets… I was getting addicted to nicotine and alcohol as I fervently tried to numb myself from everything. My days were filled with laughter, but it was the laughter of a mad man. At first, I loathed the woman that I saved for refusing to be my witness. She was the one who ruined my entire life! As time went on, I found that my hatred was meaningless, though. It would only leave me in despair, so I decided to pull myself together. It was not easy for an ex-convict to find a job. I suffered through endless scornful looks and mocking laughter. Thankfully, where there was a will, there was a way. A software company was in a rush to hire someone with a background in sales who could speak Tarsh, as they were bidding on a project in Tarshium. It so happened that I studied international trade and had chosen to learn Tarsh. Maybe it was because of their urgent need to hire someone that they did not run a background check on me. I passed the final interview and found myself a proper job. This gave me a new lease on life. On my first day, I went to the office all dressed up and was full of hope for my future. Once I was done with my orientation, a human resource executive brought me to the sales department to meet my immediate superior, the director of sales. They explained to me that my immediate superior was the daughter of the company's boss. She had studied abroad and was more beautiful than all the celebrities on television. The company was full of men who had a crush on her. The office door opened and revealed a beautiful woman with elegant features sitting behind the large desk. However, the moment I saw her face, my entire body froze in shock. Images that had been buried deep inside the recesses of my mind were now resurfacing and flashing across my mind once again. That captivating face, that pair of pleading eyes, and that voluptuous body… Who would have thought that the woman—the one that I saved at that hotel three years ago, the one very reason why I went to prison, and the one who made me lose everything—would be my boss? Other thoughts began rushing in as well. I saw my parents, who had seemingly aged decades overnight; my dark days spent in prison; and my girlfriend who was now in the arms of another man… All of these thoughts began to swirl around inside my head. The hatred that I had suppressed over the past three years now came rushing back. "Richard, this is our director of sales, Miss Lawrence." The human resource executive did not notice my reaction and began to make the introductions. As for the breathtakingly beautiful woman that I felt nothing but hatred for, she seemed to have noticed the change in my eyes. Her brows were creased as if she was trying to recall something. "Hi, my name is Wendy Lawrence. Have we met before?" she suddenly asked. I snorted before replying, "Of course, we've met. I even saw you opening your legs up for a man, Miss Lawrence!" Wendy's face darkened. "What are you talking about? Is there some kind of misunderstanding between us?" "A misunderstanding?" I sneered. "You're right, it must have been a misunderstanding. I should not have rushed in back then. I should have stood at the door and watched how you were pinned under the obese man as he…" "Stop talking!" Wendy's face turned scarlet and her chest began to heave. "Do you finally remember who I am, Miss Lawrence?" Wendy tried to keep her emotions in check, and once she calmed down a little, she turned to the dumbfounded human resource executive and said, "You can go now." The person opened their mouth to speak but eventually went out without saying anything. Right after the door closed behind them, Wendy stared at me and asked, "Three years ago, at Wilner Hotel, was it you who rushed into the room?" "That's right." "It really is you." She had a complicated look on her face as she gave a bitter laugh and said, "I was frightened to death at the time and I did not see your face. After that, I had my own reasons for not being able to thank you in person. So… Have you come to look for me specifically?" "Look for you?" I snorted. "You're overthinking it. I'm just here for a job, but who knew that I would run into you?" Wendy gave a sigh of relief. "Since it's just a coincidence, then… I should take this opportunity to thank you properly for saving me back then." "Hah. Do you think a word of thanks is enough?" She got up from her chair and took out a bank card from her luxury purse. She passed it to me and explained, "There's 250 thousand in here. Think of it as my way of compensating you." "Compensation?" I was starting to see red. Wendy assumed that I was not satisfied with the amount, and her expression became a little cold. She retrieved another card and said, "There's another million in this card, so a total of 1.25 million to thank you for saving me." I could not hold back my rage any longer. "Stop talking about money. Do you think you can just solve everything with money? I had to spend three years in prison because of you, so how are you going to repay me for that?!" "How can you just go around accusing me of something like that? When did I ever make you spend three years in prison?" Wendy was both angered and frightened by my words. "Hah. Of course, you'd choose to not remember, Miss Lawrence." I was beside myself with anger. "When I was sued for assaulting that obese guy, you refused to testify in my defense, so I ended up spending three years in prison!" Immediately, Wendy's expression changed and she stammered, "That's not possible. I asked my family to look for you, but they said you took the money and left…" Her words pushed me right over the top. "Money? Is that all you ever talk about?" I yanked my shirt open and revealed the muscular body that I had built up during my time in prison. "What are you doing?" Wendy stepped back in shock.
