Chapter Four - A Deadly Test

I stood there by the door being internally bothered by the darn phone call and even the way she acted towards me.. Why did she suddenly care if I wanted to die or not?
I sighed and decided to just go in there and ask her what was going on.
I knocked twice and she said it's opened then I walked in and pushed the door a little bit to try and close it behind me.
"Ma'am ... What's going on?" I asked and she looked at me, "You again... I told you nothing is.."
"Didn't look like nothing.. Did you ask him to fire me? Is that what this is? You want me fired on this job."
"What are you talking about?" she asked in a stern voice and I shrugged, "I don't know.. Before I knocked you were on the phone.."
"So what? You're eavesdropping on my conversation now? This could be good enough reason to get you fired don't you think.."
I laughed a bit feeling amused by what she was saying, then I shook my head a little bit, "If you want me fired.. Tell him to fire me and stop beating around the bush... I noticed that you kinda don't like how I do things.. Or maybe you're acting like this because I'm a woman, you're undermining me and thinking I'm going to get you killed, but do you think your husband would risk your life by just bringing someone like me to your life and giving them such responsibility without finding out about my capabilities?.. I know you think very little of me, but never and I mean never judge a book by it's cover."
She rolled her eyes before looking at me, "He is NOT my husband... And I don't want to get you fired. I'm just trying to stop you from getting yourself killed. Do you know who Leo is and the people that he is dealing with? They wouldn't hesitate to put a bullet on your head.. So I was thinking maybe you have a family and people that you love.. So other than be here and try to get yourself killed. Go home and spend time with them.."
I shook my head a bit," Yeah because I'm a girl I'm such an easy target and they'd definitely kill me first try.. "
" You don't know who Leo is.. And yes he will kill you himself if he has to. Don't you ever ask yourself why on earth I don't have a bodyguard.. Because they die trying to protect me... And I was trying to save you.. "
"Save me Ma'am? Really? Me? You? The same person who spent the past week not uttering even a mere word to me. I'm surprised that you can even speak.. Like this much even.. Okay tell you what ma'am.. You don't know me at all. I know exactly what I'm getting myself into here, I know more than you even do.. So don't stand here and act like you give a f**k about me when you don't care even one bit.. "
I watched as she swallowed a bit, "You're right about one thing. I don't care... If you know what you are getting yourself into.. Then good luck.. I hope they won't be mopping the floor with your blood at the mall..." and then she started walking towards the door.
I ran and followed her out. My mind was all over the place, what the f**k did she mean she hoped they don't mop with my blood at the mall. Was there anything that was about to happen there?
We made it downstairs and I stopped when we reached the second floor.. Something didn't feel right..
"Could you wait here.. I need to run by the office a bit."
She didn't say anything, she just waited.
I went to the office and took the briefcase that Old Mike once gave me. I took out a different pistol this time and checked if it had bullets. It was full.. I took another knife and put it on my sock. I checked my G48 and the knife that was next to it on my shelter. I smiled when I felt it, I took the bulletproof vest and quickly put it under my black shirt, my blood wasn't feeling today and whatever this trip was.
I then slowly went out and found her still standing there and surprisingly looked okay and not pissed.
"We may go ma'am.." we slowly got out and I opened the door for her as we both got in.

The mall that we went to was totally different from the looks of it today. It was way out of town I noticed. I looked at her and she looked outside the car. I sighed, "Guys .. Are we still going to the mall.."
I watched and Luke looked at the guy who was driving and then they kept looking forward without responding to me.
Then my instinct confirmed that something was wrong. They were acting weird from the time I walked in and went to see Old Mike to the stupid phone call she had with her boyfriend forcing her to go to the mall. Something was definitely wrong.
I looked outside the car and saw that we were slowing down now..
I took my gun outside of its safe belt and looked around us. I saw people walking inside the mall and few cars. Okay, so far things were okay.. They seemed normal. This wasn't an ambush.
The car finally came to a stop and they looked at her, "We will go park ma'am and then we will follow you in. You just need to tell us where you are after we parked."
She nodded her head, "Alright Luke.."
I opened the door a little and looked around us, then I saw how people were busy doing their things. I opened the door wider for her, "Let's go in.."
Today I made sure to keep her close as we walked inside the mall. We were in a very open place.
We started walking towards the jewelery shop and that's when everything changed. I saw a guy walking our way in a black leather jacket. He was looking at her in a different way.
I watched him closely as he pulled his left hand from his pocket, I couldn't risk it to wait and see what he was holding. I retrieved my gun from my sleeve, pulled Andria next to me with my right hand and shot him on his forehead and we went down.
"What are you doing?" she asked and I pulled her even closer, "You've been made.. I don't know who the f**k these people are.."
She looked at me and horror was written in her eyes, she looked scared it made me sad. I saw another one who looked shady approach from behind her. I put my hand on her shoulder, " Go down.. "
She did and I shot the guy, before also going down with her. I heard two gun shots and people started screaming.
"f**k ... Where is the thing that you use to communicate with the drivers. We need to leave.."
She handed me her earpiece and I put it on me, "Luke..."
'It's Tarpon... Where are you?'
"No where are you? We need to leave.. Bring the car back.."
'We are already in the mall.. Tell us where you guys are..'
He sounded so cold and distant. I looked at her and she shook her head, "I don't want to die.. Not today.."
"I won't let anything happen to you.. Just trust me.. Where are the bathrooms from here.."
She looked behind her and pointed without saying anything. I nodded my head.
'Andria.. Where are you?' Tarpon demanded on the other side of my ear and I took this as a chance, so he thought it was her talking. Great.
"We are walking towards the women's bathrooms next to the jewelery shop, second floor.. Where are you?"
'On our way... Don't move even an inch okay. We are on our way right now..' I heard him say.
I shook my head a bit, so this was them not telling me exactly their place how on earth did these people communicate? ..
I looked back at her and she was shaking her head. I held her cheek with my right hand, "Look .. We are going to get out of here okay..just trust me.. Please for once stop being a spoilt brat and trust me."
She nodded her head. And I smiled before looking at the glass of the shop we were hiding next to. It reflected a few people who were walking around and then I saw one of them...he was wearing the same s**t as the two I killed. Couldn't they at least wear different things if they wanted to create an ambush for me?
I got up and shot him twice before he went down.
One person started screaming and then people started running around.
I lifted my head up to see if we had a chance and we did I gave Andria my hand, "Come here.. We need to get you in that bathroom okay.. I need to know that no angle is open to get to you."
She agreed and I took her hand and got up then covered her with my arm and walked her towards the bathroom. I heard two gun shots again and I turned around to see the guy coming from the escalators. I sent three bullets and he took one and went on the floor.
What the f**k was happening?
We turned into the corner and I came in view with one holding a gun at me. I ducked with her and took out my knife and threw it at the guy. He held his neck and fell. I took her hand and pulled her up then we headed to the bathrooms. When we got in there we saw one holding a knife.
I sighed, "Really ? I have a gun and I can kill you now.."
He smiled and that's when I saw his eye divert to behind me.
I ducked and heard Andria scream. I looked at her and saw that this guy behind me hit her. I pointed the gun at him and shot him three times and my bullets ran out.
I pushed Andria to the wall then felt a kick behind me.
I turned and hit this guy. I took out my other gun and shot him on his forehead.
Andria was still screaming.
I sighed and went to her side, "Hey .. Hey.. It's okay.. I'm here and they won't get to you.. I won't let them touch you again.. Are you okay.."
She nodded her head a bit. She was shaking. I couldn't help myself but pull her into a hug, "I'm here.. I won't let anyone hurt you.. I'm here.."
She hugged me back..
I heard the door open and I took the other gun on my waist and shot towards the door 4 times..
"We need to leave here... Any exit you know.."
She nodded her head.
I wiped her tears, took off my vest and gave it to her to wear it, "Okay .. Let's go.. I got you.."
I took her hand and we quickly went out. The first car I saw I went to it. I took out my leather jacket and tied it on my elbow, I broke the window and pushed her in after opening it. I got in the driver's seat and headed straight home..
" You're bleeding.." she said as we drove inside their yard towards the mansion and I sighed, "I'm fine.."
"You have a glass on your shoulder.."
Fuck.. I was starting not to feel my shoulder when I was driving. My head was also starting to feel a bit light headed.
I stopped the car and she opened the door and helped me open mine. She pulled me out, "Then you want to die when we are here." she said as we walked towards the house. It was clean, no one was here. I sighed and started to panic, "Wait.. What if they are here also.."
"They are not.. "
I sighed and she took me straight to the 3rd floor in her bedroom. She sat me on a big chair in front of a mirror, "Let me get my first aid kit."
I didn't say anything and she came back and started taking out the glass and she washed my wound before putting a bandage on it.
"Are you okay?" she asked and I nodded my head, "Yeah .. Are you?" let me see where he hit you."
She moved her neck and I saw on her shoulder there was a tiny bruise. I wanted to kiss her there and make her feel better.
I brushed her there a little," I'm sorry okay.. I should have... "
" You saved my life.. It's all that matters.. You're alive.. It's all that matters."
I smiled a bit, "Does this mean you'll take it easy on me now.. That you'll not be a b***h and be hard on me.."
She laughed a bit, "Was I that bad?"
I smiled, "You were horrible.. I thought you hated me or you thought I'd let you die on my watch within a second.."
"Well you didn't let her die.." another voice said behind us and I moved my arm from her neck to turn and see Leonardo standing there. He smiled, "Cambel.. Welcome to the family.. you have passed the test."
I furrowed my brows at him confused. What test?
He walked closer to Andria and pulled her into a hug, "I'm sorry.. You know we had to do this to make sure that she will keep you safe..."
She pulled away from him and looked at me, "You were right.. I don't know you at all.." then she left.
I was still confused. What test?
