The town hall had been decorated and filled with tables, chairs and sparkling lights suspended above, covering the dark wood building with a starlight feel. Steamers of a dark blue, almost black, twisted with silvers hung in waves around the main hall, filled with large round tables and seating around them.
A small group of Omegas fluttered around one of the buffet tables, seeming to be arguing amongst themselves when I approached, coming to offer a hand before the Welcoming in two hours.
I spotted Trinity and Phoebe, both of them sharing an annoyed scowl as another woman spoke to them. She looked familiar, but I don't remember seeing another Pack member with hair the same copper as mine
Trinity caught my eye, a flash of amusement lighting her bright blue eyes. "Oh, hi lovely!" She called to me, the woman in front of them ignoring me as I stepped beside her, catching the end of the conversation.
"-you better fix it, or I'll be a f*****g problem."
Zena almost rose to the surface in rage, not just at realising who was speaking, but to hear someone threaten the women.
I turned, glaring at Lyra. "Excuse me?" I gritted, her eyes flashing to me with disgust and annoyance before her sense returned, and she glanced at Trin and Phoebe as if they'd help her right now.
"Care to repeat that request?" I growled.
She looked at me with surprise and hurt like she couldn't believe I was angry right now.
"I was telling the help they needed to put more food out," she stated then, her voice holding a note of arrogance but it wavered when she looked at me, snarling at what she called Trinity and Phoebe.
"And that required you to threaten them?" I snarled, Zena crawling under my skin, begging to be released. I looked away from Lyra, glancing across the table she'd indicated, and I almost scoffed - it was all food being set out as placeholders to feed those helping set up.
I'd asked for it to be put out.
With the amount of Gamma's and Delta's helping, I'm surprised they even made it to the table. But, something about Lyra trying to insert herself into the event didn't sit right - it angered me.
I took another glance around the room, trying to calm Zena.
I'd be calm if you let me bathe in her blood. Zena snarled, her eyes wild with fury.
I grimaced. Ew. I countered, shuddering at the thought - blood was sticky and unpleasant to be covered in.
Zena snarled at me for being so... passive.
My eyes settled on Lyra, hating she was taller than me and I had to look up to meet her cold expression. "You should leave," I warned, my voice low. "Trinity and Phoebe can handle the rest,"
Lyra glared at me for a moment, sizing me up and I knew I'd probably get my ass handed to me if it came to blows - but I didn't care.
Lyra pissed me off. Whether it was how she spoke to Jace and Jaxon or the Pack, it was always the same high and mighty, up-her-own-ass attitude.
I was sick of it.
She seemed to reconsider rearranging my face, growling low in her throat as she glared at me before walking off, slamming the main door closed behind her.
Trinity touched my arm, her eyes tilted with worry. "You didn't have to do that," she said, her voice thankful despite her words.
I shook my head, giving her a small smile. "I did," was all I said back. She and Pheobe shared a look, one I ignored and focused on helping them finish setting up before I went back to the Packhouse with Thane to get changed.
Jace and Jax weren't in the office when I arrived, but a large box sat on the desk with a small note attached.
Our sweet little flame, hope you like it.
My hands eagerly tore open the box, finding a bundle of fabric I pulled out to unravel.
It was simple but beautiful: a flowing dark blue dress with a sweetheart neckline and a corset bodice, a flowing skirt and thick-heeled shoes.
Kim slipped in with Luci and Mabel, smiling brightly when they saw me.
I smiled back, excited to see each of them. "What're you doing here?" I asked, hugging Mabel when she came to my side. She placed a bag on the desk, smiling mischievously through her large glasses. "Helping our Luna get ready," she stated simply, looking at my unbound hair and grabbing a small cosmetic bag, setting it on the table. "Luci can do your hair," I looked at Luci; she and Kim seemed to be bickering about something unimportant - like which pasta type is better. Luci scowled, telling me she lost the argument and they both looked at me.
Kim grinned. "You look so lovely!" She squealed, her tight blonde curls bouncing as she danced across the room to me. I blushed but smiled back, appreciating her bubbly attitude - it helped soothe Zena.
Luci gave me a coy smile, stepping behind me when Mabel pushed me into Jax's chair and started to grab a selection of pins from the bag Mabel had set out.
"My brothers are going to eat you up," Luci giggled, her hands expertly moving through my hair, setting it into a loose updo with tendrils of curls that fell around my face, framing it. I blushed crimson, the women around me giggling like a bunch of cackling witches around a cauldron.
Mabel sat on the edge of the desk, grabbed my hand and started to paint my nails with a metallic blue while Kim sat on the other side, putting dabs of makeup onto my face.
I frowned, looking at their day-to-day clothes. "You guys should get changed," they all laughed at me, making me scowl at them confused.
Kim patted my shoulder sympathetically. "Tonight's about you and the new members, we don't have to dress up." She said simply.
I sighed. "Oh, so everyone can recognise me 'cause I'll be fancy."
They shared another laugh, Luci giving me a quick hug from behind. "Cute you don't think we don't recognise our Luna no matter what you wear," she said teasingly.
I gave her a small, annoyed growl, only for them to laugh at me again. I scowled at each of them, a small smile betraying my attempt at being mad.
The hall looked bathed in starlight as the Binding began, soft gentle music played, overshadowed easily by Jaxon's handsome face, he and Jace dressed in a white suit shirt and slacks.
Jax's voice thundering but warm voice echoed effortlessly, drawing everyone's attention the room fell quiet.
"Tonight, we welcome our first group of new Pack members!" He announced from the small stage set up at one end, overlooking the tables and nearly the entire Pack. There was a round of cheers, whoops and claps that echoed, Jax, smiling brightly as he gestured to the side of the stage where I stood with Jace and the eleven others who would be joined tonight from Sigmund's Pack.
Four of them were small children, one of them Henry who clung to my hand and hid partly behind my dress.
Jax's eyes met mine and my heart melted as we smiled at each other. "We are very blessed tonight," he said then, my face heating and he grinned, looking back at the crowd, some of them looking at me with concealed smiles of excitement.
Jace crouched beside the group of kids, a confident smile on his face. "We're up, my little warriors," he said sweetly, looking across all their faces. "Remember what we talked about? Half of you go to Jaxon, the other half are with me."
Veronica, Ben's sister and the oldest of the group nodded, taking the hand of another small girl beside her. "Lily and I are ready, Alpha." Jace gave her a brilliant smile, one she gave back easily as Jace stood and headed to stand beside Jaxon.
I took the other little girls hand, getting ready to stand and lead the way when Henry's big eyes met mine, scared and pleading. I gave him a soft smile, squeezing his small hand. "Come on, my sweet," I said gently, leading them to Jaxon.
Jace stood a small distance from Jax, smiling proudly at me as I stood facing them in the gap - at arm's length of the children.
Thane stepped between Jace and Jax, carrying the velvet blue cushion that held two identical ceremonial blades.
Veronica stepped forward willingly, holding her palm out ready for Jace.
Henry gave a small noise of fear when Jax grabbed his blade, trying to take a step away.
I caught him, hushing him softly and glanced at Veronica, seeing even she had a small glimmer of fear.
She met my eyes, scared and I found myself saying. "We'll do it together, okay?" I held up my palms to Jace and Jaxon, they shared a small look of pride before stepping forward, cupping my hand in their own before they raised the blades.
A look of regret and pain crossed their faces as they pressed the sharp tips into my palms, slicing them until blood swelled on my skin. They stared at me in shock when I pressed the blades further into my palms, making the cuts deeper than normal.
They quickly turned the blades on their own palms, the same depth as mine now were to ensure they didn't heal through the rest of the Bindings.
They met my eyes, placing their hands over mine, our wounds touching and our blood mixing.
Together they spoke, "The Blackwater Alphas, Jaxon and Jacob Grey, welcomes Melody Grey as a Pack member and our Luna." My heart sputtered, a warmth swelling every atom of my body, and I smiled painfully in happiness; they smiled back. "Do you accept?"
"I, Melody Grey," I said, my voice lifting to carry over the murmurs and small excitement that bubbled behind us. "Accept the Blackwater Pack, the title of Luna, and my mates, Alphas Jaxon and Jacob Grey, as my own."
Their hands tightened around mine a fraction, my mind swelling as the link of the Pack filtered through my mind, subtle nudges and whispers of welcomes and congratulations.
We released each other, still smiling and I turned to the small Henry and Veronica.
I crouched, holding out my still bleeding hands. Jace and Jax blinked at me, realising what I was doing - why I'd intentionally cut my palms the same depth.
I smiled at them, pushing into the mind-link that was easy to find. Together. I said simply.
I looked at the kids again. "Come on," I encouraged. "Your turn," I curled my bloody hands at them, but they eagerly stepped toward Jace and Jax, their small hands raised.
I took their hands first. "I, Melody Grey, Luna of Blackwater, accept you as my Pack member and promise to care for you." I recited the smaller vow Luci had helped me think of before when I'd heard the murmured worries of the new members.
My words seemed to bring a sense of calm and I found myself repeating the process with all eleven of them.
As I would with every new member who we accepted.
Jace and Jax smiled at me proudly, but there was a dark glint in their eyes, some filled with promises and lust.
Their voices purred into my mind as I stepped off the stage. Soon, little mate. A shiver of excitement rolled through me, Zena chuckling.
