"Don't do this to me, Joseph! Don't even think about dying because I won't forgive you!" I exclaimed while defibrillating his heart to restore a normal rhythm, stabilize it, and finish his brain surgery.
Meanwhile, Michelle and the trauma surgeon were conducting damage control on his other organs, stopping the bleeding, and removing his spleen.
We transferred him to the intensive care unit for monitoring. It was almost dawn when we finished. Afterward, I spoke with Joseph's parents.
