Chapter Six
I looked away, pretending not to listen but unable to stop. Anna cleared her throat and the girl finally cracked.
“Eighteen, I’m eighteen but people are always telling me I look older than I am.”
“They’re lying to you,” Anna said, letting out a sigh. She pulled out her phone, her thumbs moving rapidly over the screen. “I requested someone at least twenty-five or older. You’re too young for this shoot. It’s to play the guys love interest-”
“Maybe makeup can make her look older?” Gav suggested but his words sounded weak.
That conversation had me wondering the ages of the guys. I had assumed that they were in their early twenties. Maybe I was wrong and they were older? It was impossible to tell how old they were with the masks on but I was intrigued now and curious to know more so I could share with Heather. It wasn't like she and I were going to tell anyone, but it was kind of fun to know that little secret.
“Shauna is amazing with makeup.” Gav continued.
Anna glared at him and he held up his hands, taking a step back. Anne lifted the phone to her ear and frowned. “I’m calling the agency. Thank you for coming today but we won’t be shooting with you. They guys won’t work with someone so young.”
“The makeup lady can make me look older.” The woman tried and Anna shook her head, waving her away.
I looked at the table, realizing I had nothing more to keep me busy. Reaching for the handle of the cooler, I lifted it into my arms. Anna probably had her hands full so doubted that I’d be able to get those autographs for Heather and I didn’t want to interrupt her. I started to move towards the door but Anna stopped me.
“Hey, Cookie Blossom girl.” Anna called out, pulling her phone away from her face slightly. “Hang back for a second and I’ll get you that autograph.”
I started to tell her that she didn’t need to do that, but she was already lifting the phone up to her ear. Lifting up the empty cooler, I moved off to the side of the room so that I wasn’t in the way of anyone. I pulled out my phone and sent Heather a quick message to let her know how the delivery went and who it was for.
***King POV***
Shauna brought the makeup brush up, painting around my eyes with black eyeshadow. She tilted her head to the side as we heard our PA shout, her shrill voice carrying into the little dressing room that had been setup for us.
“Sounds like she’s ripping someone a new one. I’d hate to be on the receiving end of that.”
“Same, but we’ve been behaving.” Lover said from behind me. His arms were draped over my shoulder and he was watching Shauna do her thing.
“Somewhat.” Shauna smirked, casting a look at Demon who was lounging in one of the folding chairs in the corner of the room with his phone out. Well, lounging was putting it lightly. He was pouting and we all knew it even if he wasn’t saying anything. Anna had put us all on a leash and he wasn’t taking it well.
We had each other to take the edge off but sometimes we craved more. We liked to share that was nothing new but Demon liked to go off on his own at times. Finding someone that he could f**k for the night and then send on their way the next day. The last chick he’d f****d with hadn’t been happy about it and had gone to the media with her story about a wild night with him.
Anna was handling things but now we were basically grounded and it had us all a little more on edge than normal. We weren’t just rock stars, we were dragons shifters. The instincts of our beasts were primed and ready to fight, to f**k, to claim.
We hadn’t found our female mate and at times, I didn’t think that we would. It didn’t make it any easier that we were in the public eye, with women that were more than happy to throw themselves at us. The draw backs being any scandalous activity would be splashed all over the tabloids by morning.
Demon broke from his sulking long enough to sigh dramatically, his thumb idly scrolling over his phone screen. He looked up and ours met. Demon didn’t need to say anything. I could feel the tension pouring into me from the bond that we shared. He had been more on edge the last few days like he was looking for something.
We all had been but none of us were talking about it.
Lover leaned closer to me, toying with the dark strands of my hair. The top part of my face was covered with a skull mask that had a tattoo of a crown off to the side. I was the lead singer of the group so it had only been fitting that they nicknamed me King.
We all knew that Demon was the one who was really in charge. He was our dominant, our leader… But on stage, that was where I got to take control and I loved it. I loved playing up to the crowd, flirting with the girls who screamed our names and my mates. It was fun to play into their fantasies, to toy with their emotions. Most of them didn’t realize that we were all f*****g each other. They thought it was just an act. That we were playing things up for the crowd.
They didn’t know that we were mated to each other. Hell, most of them probably didn’t even know about shifters and it wasn’t like we were going to share that with them anytime soon. The world didn’t need to know about us and we didn’t need the council breathing down our necks.
