FOUR May 19 5:50 a.m.Amanda stayed awake until about 2:00 a.m. and then drifted off, sleeping fitfully. At 5:15 a.m. she woke up and looked over at Brian, sleeping peacefully, seemingly without a care in the world. She wanted to hit him with something. The way he slept the sleep of the innocent, oblivious to the betrayals he was perpetrating. She climbed out of bed, showered and dressed. In the kitchen, she grabbed her coffee cup and placed it under the Keurig’s spout. The machine gradually spit out a cup of coffee and she sat at the kitchen table staring at the early morning beginnings of light in the back yard and feeling completely lost.
