8. The Spree

Friday, May 20, 1:46 p.m.   "What about this one?" I ask Tabitha, holding a red, shimmery cocktail dress up.   Since I started working at the construction company, Tabby and I have become friends in just a few days. Today, for example, we met up for lunch in town and are now shopping in the mall.   She tilts her head to the side and back again before shrugging her shoulders. "It's cute for a night out or something," she approves.   I study the piece of clothing closely before adding it to the other outfits I've picked out. Tabby comes to stand beside me, both of us sifting through the racks of tops and dresses.   "I just remembered something," she states all of a sudden.   I raise my head. "What is it?"   She releases a giggle and shakes her head. "My mom asked me to invite you over for lunch tomorrow. It's a tradition we do every week," she shrugs.   "Really?"   She nods. "Mom's a great cook and Dad is hilarious. Trust me, you won't regret it," she says.   "Okay. I'll go."   * * *   Saturday, May 21, 11:53 p.m.   I pull up to the curb of Tabitha's parents' driveway and shut the car off. I've arrived a little early than what Tabby said to be, but multiple cars are parked in their driveway. I walk up the path to the front door and knock a couple of times. A moment later, to my surprise, Tucker answers the door dressed in sweatpants and a tight white t-shirt.   Shock highlights his face and I would die of laughter if I weren't feeling the same emotion. "I'm so sorry. I must have the wrong house," I ramble, turning to walk back to my car. However, a hand catches my own, bringing me to a halt.   "Who are you looking for?" He asks.   "My friend, Tabitha. I'm meeting her for lunch at her mother's house."   The shock that disappeared from his features returns, confusing me further. "You're my sister's guest?"   Tabby is his sister? She didn't mention anything about Tucker being her brother. Come to think of it, I'm working for Kahn Construction and Tucker's last name is, I believe, Kahn. How did I miss that?   "Oh my god," I screech, feeling like the biggest i***t to ever walk the earth.   "You own Kahn Construction, don't you?" I question him. His face lights up with a smirk and I melt like Olaf on a summer day.   "Tabitha and our brothers work for me. As you may know, my sister manages all the paperwork," he says.   I huff. "So you're my boss, then?"   He laughs. "In a way, I guess I am. Why don't you come inside? We're about to eat," he suggests, running a hand along his beard.   I nod and walk with him to the front entrance, ignoring the ache in between my legs and the sexy smirk he wears. What is happening to my sanity?   The both of us are greeted by Tabitha, another woman and man - who I assume are Mr. and Mrs. Kahn - and three...totally hot men. Nothing genetic about that at all.   "So this is the gorgeous little number Tucker has been talking about non-stop, huh?" One of the three questions, smirking with mischief. His smirk turns into a grimace when Mrs. Kahn smacks him on the back of the head.   "Jesus, Ma," he complains, rubbing the abused spot.   She sends him a glare, saying, "Where are your manners?"   This is going to be one fun lunch date.
