Chapter 25: Eloped

Three Years Later

Emile

I was lying in bed thinking about all the stuff that had happened since the boys returned, there were some tragedies among us and some wins. Marion had lost their daughter a few months back and it took a toll on her and Dragu, we attended the funeral of Princess Drucilla while her parents were in their magical cocoon. I felt for Marion, she lost her sons before and now her daughter and she will never get to see them again, this reminded me I still have a chance to fix things with my son. Zack and Laddie moved back here for a while since business picked up, I kept out of Laddie's way because I hated that Zack stayed with him. Laddie had a hold on my son I could never understand, Zack loves him and he knows it, deep down, I believed he groomed my son but there was no proof. I felt a kiss on my cheek and turned to see my wife smile at me saying, "Good morning, lover boy."

I married Victoria yesterday, we eloped to have a private wedding, no one knows besides my brothers, and we will have a coronation and state wedding when we are ready. We decided we would mark each other then, because of tradition, and I didn't mind, I took the plunge although still afraid to love, however with Vickie, I can safely say, I love her, and she made me feel alive again. I kissed her soft lips and pulled her close to me, the morning was cold, it was winter and snow was falling, we cuddled and stayed in bed a little longer. I got up after our morning session, we were in a cabin at one of my properties away from everyone and with a few guards surrounding the area. I took my phone off the counter, I had left it there last night charging, I saw a missed call from Zack and returned it right away to get a voicemail.

I felt arms go around me knowing it was my wife, I loved calling her that, she was always so happy and I loved that about her although she told me straight about any transgressions without fear when she needed to. She was not afraid to call me out on bullshit, I sat her down and we had our french toast and coffee with omelets. I was not the best cook but I got things done if I had to, we knew we could still find our mates before the markings but our promise to each other still stands. However, once we marked each other, we weren't sure if it would break any bond with our fated mates because of my hierarchy, it might be because mates are being found since the boys are back or it might not break the bond which would still work for us. I left Levi in charge for the time being and he has Polly at his side, those two were hot and heavy, and finally engaged.

Zack called back later that afternoon asking me about a private investigator, he knew I could be discreet, so I asked, "Why are you still with him if you don't trust him?" I could hear the pain in his voice, he was trying hard to mask it and said, "I love him, Dad, and I need to know if he has started cheating on me again." I wanted to say more but gave him a number to one of my PIs' instead, he was one of the best and would find any information he needed. Zack has loved Laddie for so long since he was a child and didn't know what to do in this situation, all I can do is, give my support and not alienate him anymore. Before I hung up with him, I asked, "Do you know who he might be cheating with?" I heard him sniffle a little, my son was crying again and he said, "I don't want to talk about it," I said, "I love you and I will be at your side if you need me, he said, "Thank you, Dad," and hung up.

A week passed and we were still in our little bubble, Victoria made it memorable although she was trying not to let me think so much about, Zack. I couldn't help it, I was worried, I wished I had executed Laddie when I had the chance but he had his hooks in my son and it would have made things worse between us. Zack has to do this on his own if I want to win him over but I would still be there if he asked me to, it stopped snowing and we decided to head down the mountain to get a few items for the next week. I could have sent one of my men but we wanted to do this together, Victoria has a candlelight dinner planned for later tonight. The convenience store had almost everything we wanted, she was happy and so was I, the owner knew who I was and some of the locals, and others just walked past us.

We got a few coats and Victoria needed another pair of boots, I smiled because she was so generous in the way she handled everything and everyone, quite a few things she will have to learn as Queen. However, right now, she just wants to have fun and I love it that way, sometimes, I think about finally finding a fated mate but never dwell on it too much. We stopped at a diner to have lunch, some of the people there looked at us and smiled, some bowed and carried on with what they were doing. I said, "It's not our usual expensive restaurant but it's good here," Vickie leaned over, kissed me, and said, "Anywhere with you is fine, Eme." After lunch and shopping, we were driving back up the mountain, Vickie looked at me and said, "You know I love you, right,?" I smiled and said, "Yes, I know," we held hands continuing our drive in silence.

Emile helped me out earlier in the kitchen but was called away to a brief meeting, and promised me he would be back, so I set everything up and ran upstairs to shower. I looked at the diamond ring on my finger, it was beautiful, an interlock ring made with the special silver of Elvira, fit for a Queen. I was brushing out my hair when I heard a noise, I didn't pay any attention to it because Hamir was outside and Emile would be back soon. I got a link from Hamir, "Hide, "Your Majesty, rogues," I panicked heading to a panic room but I forgot the code, "s**t," I thought, the noise got louder and I picked up Emile's gun by the counter and mind-linked him for the code, he said, "I am on my way, baby," giving me the code. However, it wasn't going in and I couldn't link anymore so I headed into the master closet, I heard the shooting outside and then the bedroom door pushed, I covered my mouth and stayed quiet, I was so scared.

My mind wandered back to when I was a teenager, I hid under the bed with my little sister as my mom was raped and killed, and my father's head was cut off and placed on a spike in the backyard. I was brought out of my thoughts when I heard an unknown voice saying, "Come out, Victoria, you w***e, I have a surprise for you, my c**k is way better than the King's." I heard shooting and I closed my eyes, it got quiet and the door busted open and without hesitation, I started firing and a scream made me kneel in submission. I had shot, Beta Drake, he turned into his hybrid when Emile said, "Drax, calm down, she was scared," Drax picked up a body and started to drain it, and I busted out crying as he backed off. I saw his bullet wounds healed as he looked at me before walking off, Emile picked me up in his arms and whispered, "I got you, babe, you did good," as Mendai looked at Emile's gun and said, "She emptied the clip.

I saw the damage to the cabin, Emile still had me in his arms bridal style as we walked through the portal, I saw Hamir was hit and getting medical attention. Beta Drake was back to normal and I looked at him, he said, "Wait, Emile," as he waved a hand over me and said, "She wasn't harmed," he looked down at me and said, "Good aim," winking his eye at me before walking off. I looked at Emile and said, "You call him, Drax when his name is Drake," he said, "I will explain later since you will be Queen once coronated, I won't keep anything from you," as he placed me in our room shutting the door. He explained everything and I was shocked, Aidan, Ty, and Drax were back, and I was glad King Roman's days were numbered, I would get my revenge once his Beta was killed because he killed my family in retaliation for my mother rejecting him.

He was my sister's father, no one would know this as I promised my mother to keep the secret safe, Axel had a huge crush on my mother. They dated but she found my father who was her destined mate, it was rare to find a mate but my mother chose him especially because she wanted a family. My father moved her to Elvira to avoid conflict when Axel would visit Faeora but that didn't stop him years later when my mother went to meet my grandmother. He forcefully changed her when she refused to sleep with him and she got pregnant with my sister, he thought if he changed her, she would be with him and my father would turn her away. That didn't work and we fled to Ironside until he found us years later, he killed my dad, and my mother still refused to be with him, so he raped her and had her killed not knowing about his daughter.

I made sure to have her wolf bound, so she doesn't know she has a wolf in fear of Axel knowing, but the worst happened, he kidnapped her not knowing her true identity. He broke his promise to me not to touch her, I wondered if he ever felt a paternal bond with her because he still allowed men to have their way with her. I hope he wasn't intimate with her because that would devastate her if she ever found out the truth about her real father, I was even afraid to ask. I was brought out of my thoughts when Emile hugged me after getting his shirt to put around me, he said, "I am sorry, I thought you were safe, the meeting ran a little late." I placed my hand on his face and said, "You saved me, that is all I am grateful for," he said, if anything had happened to you, that would be the end of me, I wouldn't be able to bear the pain again.....," kissing his lips shutting him up. I looked at him after our passionate kiss and asked, "Who tried to kill me and why?" He said, "My best bet, Roman came after me and now, I am going after him."
