Chapter 11: Strained Relationship Part 1

Zack

It was my twenty-second birthday and I was in my secret cabin with my lover, he was older than me and had been secretly together since I was seventeen. I was looking out the window, drinking some strong tea when I felt a kiss on my shoulder and hands go around me from behind. I smiled and asked, "Haven't you had enough, Laddie?" He kissed my neck and said, "I could never get enough of you," I smiled and said, "I have to go back soon, my father requested me in his throne room this morning but as usual, I would be late." He said, "You shouldn't piss your father off if you want to come out to him and mate with me," I felt his hand in my pants playing with my c**k. I moaned and said, "We shouldn't, Lad," as he increased his pumping back and forth with my c**k, I bit my lip and linked him, "You should stop."

We have been a secret ever since because I was a young impressionable prince and he had a few hundred years over me and was one of my father's trusted guards. I saw my uncle Jared smoking and arguing with some random woman and I smiled, he said, "Your father is waiting on you," I nodded heading to the throne room. The door opened and Laddie linked me and said, "Take it easy," I linked him back, "I will, and I love you," he said, the same. My father was looking at some scroll and said, "You are late, Zack," I said, "I know but I wasn't home, I was out," kissing his cheek, he smiled and said, "It's your birthday, are you ready for the ball tonight?" I nodded and said, "I know there is more than why you called me here today," he gave me the scroll and I realized it was a marriage decree, a political marriage between me and a light elf to further our alliance.

I panicked and said, "Dad, I am not ready for this," he looked at me unfazed and said, "It's a duty, we talked about this last year, Zack," I said, "I know but give me more time." He walked over to me slowly like he was deep in thought, he saw a hickie on my neck, and asked, "Who is she?" I said, "There is no one just some random girl," he raised an eyebrow and said, "I see that you are spreading your seed among the ladies in the land, just be careful, Zack, no pregnancies, don't f**k up this alliance." I nodded and got out of there, my stomach in knots because I was not attracted to women, there was an old law on the books that forbids men to be with men and women to be with women. I had planned to change it by getting my father on board but I was so afraid to talk to him about it, my uncles were all in some form, womanizers.

I linked Laddie, he walked in bowing his head out of respect, and I asked, "Who is my son seeing?" He said, "I don't know what you mean, Your Majesty," I smiled and said, "I saw the love bite on his neck and you are with him most of the time, "Who is she?" He looked at me dumbfounded as I knew I caught him off guard but I needed to know how serious this was before my son did something foolish when he was mated. He said, "I don't know but I think it is serious since he leaves to be with the person," I nodded and said, "Find out and inform Jared so he can find out whatever else that is needed to know, that is your priority," then I dismissed him. Later, I left to change as the guests were rolling in to celebrate my son's birthday, his betrothed will be in attendance and it would be nice to see how they interact.

Eva was in her room getting ready and I walked over to her kissing her lips, she said, "You are late or did you meet your w***e today." I smiled because she loved throwing jabs at me because of the mishap I had with Lamira ten years ago, I didn't tell her it was Lamira to avoid conflict but she had her suspicions. I had invoked mistresses in our heavy arguments out of spike but I didn't take any, due to what everyone thinks, I was faithful to Eva. She has been doing great as Queen so I don't oversee her, she can make her own choices, she also spends a lot of time with my mother who stays here on occasion when she is not in Orca. Speaking of my mother, she is here to celebrate Zack's birthday with our little sister who turned nine a few weeks ago. Eva walked past me and I held her hand pulling her back to me and she said, "You didn't stay in your room last night."

I kissed her lips and told her, "I fell asleep in the library, I am sorry, I knew we had plans to be together last night. " She relaxed in my arms and asked, "Why aren't I getting pregnant, Emile?" I looked at her and said, "It's not you, it's me, but we have time, Eva, it will happen when we least expect it, however, we can adopt if you want it badly." She agreed to discuss it at a later date and we headed down to the ball in unity, my brothers were already there and I saw Dai talking to some girl as we waited for Zack to arrive. He walked in as everyone bowed and we yelled, "Happy Birthday, Zachariah." He walked over to me and I hugged him whispering, "Happy Birthday, my greatest joy, I love you," as we rested our foreheads on each other symbolizing we were one. He wore his crown showing he was the crown prince, his crown was silver and tied into his long braid in th back, it was unique to our family.

He looked over my shoulder to see Eva and hugged her saying, "Thank you for this, Mom," he started calling her mom when we got mated. Laddie, his assigned guard blended in but was close enough to protect him, Zack mingled with everyone as the party started, and my mother hugged him as he nodded to her husband, Prince Fitz. Prince Fitz walked toward me and said, "It's nice to be here in the Palace again, Your Majesty." We said our pleasantries as he joined me and my brothers for drinks, I saw Lady Kya enter with her father, she was Zack's betrothed. I mind-linked Zack, "Go talk to Lady Kya, get to know her as you will be mated soon enough," he smiled before walking over to make small talk with her. I watched them walk out to the garden with Laddie in the shadows and I turned to see Lamira walk in with a gift in her hand, Malric was with her, and for some reason, I felt jealous.

Lamira

I was glad to see Zack, I have been away in Faeora with Malric for a few years since he was sent there in business, I had marked him after the kiss Emile and I shared. He came home ready to burn everything down when he thought I had cheated on him, so I gave into marking him and let Emile go. We had adopted a daughter from Faeora, she is five and brought joy to our union, I fell in love with Malric like I knew I would once we completed the process of the marking. I still loved Emile but things had changed since marking Malric, I saw Emile stare at me and I felt those feelings again, I had suppressed them long ago but things were different. Zack was nowhere to be seen and Emile walked over to me and said, "He is in the garden speaking with his betrothed." He shook Malric's hand, Malric then kissed me and gave us our privacy.

He said, "I see you are glowing," after looking at Malric's neck, I smiled and he had a servant take the gift to Zack's room, he offered me wine and we walked down to the balcony. He said, "I am glad everything worked out in the end, Lamira," I blushed and could never be close to him without feeling butterflies in my stomach. We talked a little about how kind and beautiful the fairies were before I heard footsteps coming towards us and it was Queen Eva. Eva held onto Emile's elbow and leaned into him saying, "Welcome back, Lamira," I smiled saying, "I am glad to be back for my son's birthday party." I knew she was insecure about Emile's relationship with me but I was here for Zack, not Emile. Anyway, I excused myself and walked towards my husband who welcomed me with open arms and a kiss. I waited to talk to Zack but it was getting late, Lady Kya was back without him and Emile left to get him for me since he was not answering the link, and neither was his guard.
