I was practically running alongside Lyle. His paces were triple my own as we walked up the canary yellow hospital corridor. It was of course a private hospital - the best in the country. My worst fears came true. Arlo, Matteo and Savino were all standing speaking to a doctor at the end of the corridor, it wasn't long before we joined them. The smile I gave them was fake, not that they noticed. Seeing Arlo again so soon after yesterday brought a wave of sickness over me. "What the hell has happened?" Silence met Lyle's question. "Son." Arlo coaxed, his voice soothing as if he was trying to calm him down. "I will ask one more time, what the f**k happened to my mother?" The doctor cleared her throat. Everyone's attention went straight to her. I took Lyle's hand in my own squeezing it. H
