CHAPTER 10
Throughout the long and bitter argument, Debby sat on her stone. She absorbed the emotions of the people around her like a dry sponge soaking up water. Anxiety and fear were both prevalent, well mixed with the indecision of not knowing where to turn or what to do. Debby trembled slightly but did not react physically in any other way. Mentally, she was feeling sick.
The debate ended with animosity between the communites as well as against the townspeople.
