Alicia’s Resolve

Narrator--

Alicia has been pondering on all the past incidents, few sweet but rest all mostly scary! Now at present, she was deciding on whether to stay on the island or move back as Sara suggested!

Since childhood Alicia has been a pampered child! Her mother Angela and brother Neilson, has showered her with love and fulfilled all her demands! No one has ever spoken loudly to her! Even her Mr Devil has been always caring and loving! But now after so many years, her life has reduced to shreds, on this island!

She was thinking about the past three months on this island! When she came with her friends on 10th January to celebrate her birthday, after two years, she hoped she will be able to move on! Alicia has not celebrated her last two birthdays because Damien was not with her! And this was the third birthday after Damien died in that horrible accident! At least everyone thought so!

She and her friends celebrated and enjoyed her birthday on this island on 15th of January! A day which she can never forget, not only because it is her birthday but also because it was Damien’s birthday too and was also the day when he drowned in the accident three years back!

Alicia could have moved on with her life if that strange man from the castle didn’t call to her soul! Yes, she remembered clearly all the incidents since that birthday till now! 10th January, she was sitting on the balcony, looking at the beach and the sea with her binoculars when she panned it to the castle on the beach and found a dark shadow behind the curtains in a room. The figure was tall and muscular, but he was more than just attractive! The figure was so familiar and as Alicia looked at the figure behind the curtain, the first thing that came to her mind was Mr Devil! It was at that very moment that she decided she will look for Damien on this island! She somehow believed, he was out somewhere on this island!

Alicia’s friends left a few weeks after the birthday, on 15th Feb and Sara stayed back to be with Alicia on her crazy search! Even that day Alicia couldn’t imagine what cruel fate was in store for her on that island, until 20th Feb, when she got almost raped by some criminal, gangster named Carlos! She thought she would give up but she couldn’t! One and a half month she spent on the island looking for Mr Devil who called himself Mathew, only to find him in another dangerous situation in the alley behind the bar ‘Our night’. She was still terrified of the memories of that day. It was 30th of March!

When she was dreading over the fact that she almost died in the alley and her life was a mess and not worth living, just as she thought that she had, had the worst experiences of life, she saw her Mr Devil, having dirty s*x with more than one woman! She threw her binoculars and decided that it was all, she could take! Or at least she thought so until, she was summoned and tortured by none other than the mafia king, Badshah!

But then again, it was her Mr Devil who saved her! Why? He has to be Damien and not Mathew! He must be pretending to not remember! If he really didn’t remember her, then why would he save her, thrice!!

The questions were overwhelming and the answers were not in Manchester but here on this island! It took Alicia days to recover from the fever and trauma she faced in the castle! Actually complete one month! After that night, Sara was forced by Alicia to return so that Alicia could stay alone and think through. She didn’t want to put Sara through any more dangers like the one that happened in the castle! But unfortunately Juliana came with her twins to see Alicia and to take her back to Manchester.

Rest, we all know! Juliana had to return without her but not until Alicia agreed to let Sara stay with her till the time she would stay on the island!

Yes! It was mid-April and Sara and Alicia were in an argument about whether to stay back on the island for the criminal mafia, Mathew or to return to Manchester with a beating heart in their bodies that reminded them constantly that they are lucky to be even alive!

The weather was much warmer now! Alicia looked at her watch. It was five thirty in the evening and the sun would set soon. She was just thinking to take a walk on the beach when Sara came and asked her the same!

“Let’s take a walk on the beach! You have been through a lot and I don’t want to force you to decide all by yourself. Let’s discuss together!”

Alicia agreed and both of them moved out to free their minds and talk while strolling on the beach!

Alicia sighed as she walked in her white silk frock that blew with the wind. Her hair was let loose and cut into shoulder length curls! She walked along with Sara side by side and stared at the sun setting slowly at the horizon!

“Let us return! It will be dark soon and I feel uncomfortable on the beach in the dark!” Alicia said with wide eyes, vigilant of her surroundings.

“Relax! I am here with you and there are so many people around, see!” Sara pointed at the men and women on the beach. There were even children playing around!

The wind blew Alicia’s curls and they fell again and again on her face. She carefully brushed them with her finger and tucked them behind her ears, but it didn’t work, so she instead enjoyed the feeling of her hair getting messier with the wind! The girls sat on the sand and looked at the waves!

“Sara! Why doesn’t he talk to me? Why does he pretend to be someone else?” Alicia asked sadly. Tears threatened to fall from her eyes but she was a grown up lady and she has learnt to control her tears, though in a hard way!

Sara sighed and looked at Alicia. She could see how much in pain Alicia was! Only if there was any way to help her! But there wasn’t any! If the man was really Damien, Sara would have definitely fought with him for her friend and forced him to come back! But he wasn’t Damien! He was Mathew, the son-in-law of the wanted Mafia King, Badshah! They have come to know atleast this much by now!

“Alice! He is not Damien! Damien can never do things this man does! Can’t you see?” Sara cupped Alicia’s face and whispered, “Forget about that man Alicia! Let us go back!”

Alicia sighed and remained silent for a few moments, just staring at the water. Damien was lost in a sea just like the one, right in front of her! The waves reminded her one thing. What is given comes back! She has always been kind and loved everyone around! Is this the way God has planned to return her love to her?

What would have Damien done if it was Alicia who was lost in the place of Damien?

She looked at Sara with a new found direction and said, “I am sorry Sara! I can’t give up on him! He is my everything! If I was lost, Damien would have never given up on me! How can I give up on him? Even if he is not Damien, I need to know the truth for sure, else I will never be able to move on Sara. If I leave now without knowing for sure that he is not Damien, I will be leaving a lot of questions and a part of my existence on this island and I will never find peace! I will stay and find out. That is the only way to move on!”

“But what about the dangers Alicia? For God’s sake he is a criminal! A Mafia! And he is surrounded by Criminals always! Did you forget that you have almost been raped twice and killed once!!” Sara tried to change Alicia’s mind but Alicia has already decided!

“If you want, you may return Sara! But I will stay back. If I die in the process of finding him and he lets me die, then so be it!”
