New Friends The city of Sykor sat atop three hills that loomed high above the valley. Buildings and houses crammed together on old narrow streets that twisted and wound through the city like a web from a hungry spider. Houses faced with brown and gray stone appeared to be stacked atop one another as they climbed out of the lower vales like ivy up a trellis. "It looks like a giant fortress," Rahg said, eyes darting about, afraid to miss a new sight. "And built like one," Tobias said. He scratched his bald head as he pointed to the guards at the gate. "Only two ways into Sykor, and everybody has to register when they go in or out. They like to keep track of things here.
