CHAPTER 6 – Heartbreak for the Playboy

1572 Words
Aileen’s POV I left him in darkness, allowing him some time to digest the bitter truth I said. I never wanted to reveal to Leon that he was my mate, nor be harsh on him for being a playboy, but he pushed all my buttons to the maximum. I walked to Dad’s office without looking back to see his gloomy face. “Hey, Dad,” I knocked at the office door he kept open. “You were late, Ms. Aileen Wallace,” Dad peeped out from his laptop and said with a smile. “Sorry, Dad, I met someone on the way,” I said, sitting in the front chair of his table. He was keeping his office perfectly, arranging all the things. Dad was a perfectionist. He ideally wants things. “Who?” he narrowed his forehead. “Just forget it, Dad; if you are not busy, can we talk a little?” “Of course, I was done for the day. I was checking a few e-mails. Was that about Liam you wanna talk about, sweetheart?” Dad asked, shitting his laptop. “Yes, Dad, why didn’t you tell me Liam will be here? At least you could have asked me” I started the topic. “Aileen, Liam is a good person. Before I called him here, I dug about him. There was nothing bad about him, not a single black spot I found in his life” Dad’s certification of Liam worried me about Leon. Leon was wise and versa; we can’t find a white spot in his character. If Dad had learned Leon was my mate, he would not like it. “Dad, wait. Listen to me” I was going to make my point. “Don’t you like him?” Dad asked. “No, Dad. It’s not like that, he was perfect in every way, but he is not my mate. Liam said he was not blessed with a mate, but Dad, I hear enough stories about wolves who found their mate in their twenties or thirties. Who knows that? Me and Liam are also like them. What if we dated or married and found our mate later?” I will have to convince Dad to leave the idea about Liam. I don’t want to hurt him, so I am approaching slowly. I’ve already given my mate a heart attack, and I certainly don’t wanna give a dad one too. “Aileen, those incidents happened one or two percent. I don’t want to see your life getting waist by serving to the pack only. You deserve happiness. Look at Melina; I am so happy for her. Liam will be a perfect life partner for you. I’ve seen Liam was attracted to you in the first meet” This is going to be a hard one. Why don’t you tell him that Leon was our mate? Things will get easier. Akira whispered in my head. “I know, Dad, but I still have my time. I am still 22, and we wolves live longer. All I am saying is give me some time, Dad. None of these would have happened if you had asked me for once, just one time before you called Liam to come here,” I scoffed a breath of air. The tension was slowly growing in Dad’s office room while he was justifying his side, and I was doing my best to make Dad understand. “Sweetheart, why have I started to feel that there is a hidden story that you are not like to share with me?” he said with a suspicious look. “T..there’s nothing,” I stuttered but managed with a fake smile. “That’s why you rejected Liam?” he asked. “I am simply telling you that give me some time; who knows that my real mate was somewhere out there? Dad, you always gave us freedom; when Mom disagreed with me about establishing a new pack and ruling it as the Luna, you stood with me. Can you give me some time, Dad? Please” I walked to him and kneeled in front of him. I know that I can emotionally blackmail him. “Aileen, you are confusing me from time to time. I’ll look for a way to deal with Liam; meanwhile, if you are not interested in him, please don’t do anything serious with him. I don’t want unnecessary problems here. His dad was my good friend, and this will be an issue for our pack allies,” Dad said. “Thank Dad, thank you so much for understanding me” I kissed his cheeks and stood up. “Aileen, just because I am being good to you, don’t think I am too good. Let’s go for dinner” I guess that Dad got a sniff about my hide-and-seek game. Now I am terrified that Leon will be in trouble if Dad gets to know that he is my mate. “Aileen, you walk to the dining hall; I have to meet a few warriors to discuss a few matters which recently occurred as a threat to our territory security,” Dad said and walked away to the warriors’ quarters. I walked back to the packhouse, keeping my arms in the pockets of my cotton shorts; I still felt the smell of Leon in the wind. “So, you were playing hide and seek there, Aileen” his statement threw me off. I thought my nostrils still felt his scent, but the cunning fox was hiding and eavesdropping on our chat. “Now you started to eavesdrop on our chats also?” I asked. “The thing you point out as personal has something to do with me. Not something; I am the main point” he smirks; he has a victory smirk on his face. For a moment, I thought, why did I spill the truth about our mate bond to this fool? “Shhhh, you are gonna make us both into trouble” I pulled him away from the main path and brought him back to a huge tree. “I am not in trouble, but you are my mate!” he winked at me, and I rolled my eyes. “I thought you were just bullying others and playing with girls’ lives, but today I got another bad habit of yours, eavesdropping on others’ chats,” I said with a mocking smile. “Just got the hobbit, my mate,” he winked again. Now this man has become a problem for me. “Stop calling me to mate from time to time. You will get us caught soon. You know what? I don’t want to talk to you. I am heading for dinner” I turned to go, and Leon stood beside me, and now he was walking with me towards the pack house. “Aileen, why didn’t you tell your dad you have a mate? According to what I understood, you don’t have any business with Liam, which made me happy and….” “Ho, ho, wait, why did it make you happy? Don’t tell me that you like this mate thing?” though I showed him fake anger; I clapped happily from the deep down of my heart. “I have to accept. I mean, I fear this will piss off your moon goddess.” “Mind your language, Leon; we worship her. I don’t like to hear anyone talk about her like this,” I said with a firm tone. “My apology, my mate; I mean, I am ready to get into this relationship, but I felt you are not ready to accept this,” he said. “You are an irritating f*kcing a*s, Leon. Why can’t you mind your business? I told Melina at the beginning that you will bring much trouble to us,” I said. “What did I do, Aileen? It’s whom you get in us trouble by not accepting this mate thing,” he said. “Are you asking me to fall in love with a playboy who was two years younger than me and slept with dozens of girls while bullying the high school mates, ha?” I raised my tone, making my walk pause. “I am a Luna to a pack Leon; it’s not simple as you think. It’s not a life; it’s full of s**t with responsibilities on each life, and how am I going to give my hand to a person who doesn’t have the responsibility, ty about his own life?” I spat the venom. “Easy, Aileen, you are being too harsh to our mate. You are breaking his heart,” Akira said in a rude tone. I inhaled a few deep breaths and looked at Leon. His face turned into a gloomy one. My heart clenched when I saw his sad face. He has a bitter past. His parents were lost in a car accident; he was the only survivor. “I thought I would get the love I deserved from a life partner, but it seems I don’t!” He withdrew himself and walked past me by keeping his long strides. “Leon, listen. I am sorry; I don’t want to hurt you. I am sorry,” I yelled at his disappearing back into the darkness. “Congratulations Aileen, You f****d up things earlier, and now you f*cked up!” Akira warned me.
