A knock on the door disrupted my rest, I groaned wondering if he was back, I sneered at the thought of it and ignored the thud coming from the door, and laid down covering myself with the duvet. "My Lady, I'm the King's advisor Lysander. I came with your lunch" I blinked twice the moment I heard about the food, I was clouded with anger that I barely remembered that I haven't eaten anything since morning, I stormed out of the bed as I realized it was not the weird man. I wasted no time in unlocking the door and ushering him into the room. He placed the food on the table next to the long couch, I inhaled deeply as the aroma pierced through my nostrils. I was impatiently waiting for Lysander to leave so I would be able to eat peacefully as I don't want him reporting to the king that I pounced on the food Immediately he came in, I still have my prestige to protect, I thought with an arched brow glaring at Lysander, however, he had other plans. He turned towards me, staring at me with an unknown emotion. "Hey, you can leave if you're done" I blurted out. "Can I have a moment with you, my lady?" I wonder why he wanted a word with me? Since my arrival he hasn't paid attention to me or spoken a word to me, he just stares at me with vicious intent, now he wants to speak with me, who knows what's this for? I cleared my throat and motioned him to go on. "What happened to you and my King?" His question caught me off guard, I wasn't expecting him to speak about the weird king. I chuckled while walking around the room. "Mr. Lysander, I don't clearly get what you want to portray, but how can the King's affairs be of your concern?" "I don't want to sound rude, my lady, but I'm the King's advisor. I have to look out for him," he breathed heavily. "You shouldn't have been mean to the King, he just thought that you were his bride who was murdered. You both have the same features. He believes that you're Demeter" my jaw dropped at his words, murdered! The thought of it sent shivers down my spine. "Demeter! Resemblance, how is that even possible?" I rubbed my temple, "who murdered the Demeter!" I blurted with no expression. "My apologies my lady, but that's for the king to answer. I'm pleading with you not to be mean to the king, bad things happen when he is angry especially issues with you and Demeter" Lysander fell to the ground with his head on the floor pleading. "You don't have to apologize, I have no feud with the king, I just don't want people addressing me by another name. Nevertheless, I have heard your explanation but still, I'm not Demeter. I'm jasmine" I introduced while extending my hand for a handshake. "Then I'll take my leave since my lady understands my thoughts" he bowed and left. All this for a deceased bride, is this why he held me hostage? I scratched my head trying to understand the whole thing. "I believe the best thing is for me to stay off this issue and focus on escaping" I sighed and strode to the bathhouse to wash my hands. Moving back to my room I walked to the sofa, sat down, and began eating. "Bang" I flinched hearing a loud noise come from the door. "Come in" I muttered and continued eating, the down flung open as Annabelle and Christine walked in "My lady" they greeted in unison as they curtsy. "Finally, you both are here. I thought that I would be bored to death. Where have you guys wandered to?" I inquired, they bowed their heads apologetically and explained that they were sent out by the king when he visited my chamber. "You two don't have to be too polite and curtsy all the time, it's quite boring." "My lady you.." I cut Annabelle off by waving my hand in the air, "Jasmine! Call me Jasmine that'd be fine" I let out, the both bit their lip for a while before nodding in response. I invited them to sit on the couch with me, but they did refuse at the beginning. Now we're here bickering and laughing. I would say they are fun to be with, I placed my hand on the table and used it to support my jaw while lost in a daze thinking about my happy days in college, this is the same way I chatted and played with Rebecca but she and her mother stab us right in the chest, I feel my face burning up in anger as I recalled everything. "Jasmine! Jasmine!" I flinched, hearing my name being called multiple times snapped me out of thoughts, but one thing I could say is that I won't forget my revenge and I must find my way out. I gazed down at my hand and found out that Annabelle was holding my hand, my eyes darkened, I yanked her hand away and pulled out my hand. "My apologies my lady, I was only trying to get your attention because you weren't responding when we called you" Annabelle knelt with her head placed on the ground, I was stunned at the sight before me. "What the heck are you doing? I already told you two that we're friends no need for formalities" I said attempting to help her get on her feet, she backed away from my grip, I sighed as I recalled what had happened earlier, "I'm very sorry Annabelle, I didn't mean it like that. Playing with you both made me remember a painful event that happened to my life." I explained and assisted her up. "No my lady, it's not right for you to apologize to me I'm just a servant" "Enough Annabelle! It's jasmine, and I've told you no need for formalities. I just want to be friends with you and Christine, is that okay?" I inquired glancing at the two of them, they nodded eagerly with smiles on their faces. "You both know your way around the castle?" I suddenly asked, they exchanged glances and nodded in agreement.
