“What’s the matter, my king? You look tranced and worried” Lysander said calling back to earth, I stared at him wondering if I should trust him with what happened to Demeter. Nevertheless, I decided to tell him. I believed if he was an accomplice, he’d be worried and would definitely do something or try to contact the mastermind. I sighed and went back to my seat, I sat down and motioned him to stand, “well, last night she boldly initiated a kiss out of the blue which was unlike her. She even pressed for more. Although I refused her, I saw a glint that’s full of lust in her eyes” I muttered with a sigh, “she has never looked at me like that, hatred is what I usually see in her eyes for me. So tell me, how is it that they came for me but ended up hurting her, what if I wasn’t present?” I inquired stiffly, tapping my fingers on the table impatiently as I stared at Lysander who was glaring at me with wide eyes, and immediately maintained his composure the moment our eyes met.
“Uhm... they obviously came for you my lord and the lady saved you that’s why you’re safe. I believe she absorbed the whole spell that was why she acted strange” I arched my brow confused at his word. I cleared my throat while giving him a questioning gaze.
“It’s this way my lord, I read a book about something like that before, I think that she saved you with her prowess that was why she absorbed the spell” my jaw dropped, saved me! How? I creased my brow.
“You don’t have to worry my king, this only happens when two souls merge. Although she hasn’t recalled her past life, her soul can easily dictate when you’re about to be harmed if you’re together” I sighed feeling overwhelmed, you saved me even when you haven’t recalled anything, my love for you increases every day. I broke out into a smile as I know that her soul recognizes me.
“When did you read the book? The castle library is restricted. Don’t tell me you break into the castle Lysander” I let out staring at him with a suspicious gaze.
“Apologies my king, I saw the book lurking around the library when the renovation is ongoing” my eyes darkened, just as I slammed the table he fell on the ground pleading for mercy.
“This is not going to work on me Lysander! You’ve broken so many rules. You attempted to leave the castle without seeking his approval, from the library which is restricted. How am I sure that you didn’t cast the spell of ecstasy”
“I didn’t do it, my lord, I swear with my life” he asserted, hitting his head on the floor.
“Come on Lysander, why should I believe you when I have all this proof before me. You abruptly read a book about the ecstasy spell which was in the restricted area, at the same time I saw you at the east gate late at night. Even if I want to believe you, my mind will not” I mumbled walking close to him. “You have to prove your innocence by persuading me or be ready for your punishment” I uttered as I stopped right in front of him.
He shivered, breaking out in a sweat. I know that Lysander is innocent but I had to push things to him just to make the mastermind feel safe and lower his guard. This was the decision I made while listening to Lysander’s explanation, I had to do this if I wanted to keep Demeter safe. I would have told Lysander but I don’t want anyone getting involved or hurt so I’d have to punish Lysander and get the herald to announce his crime and betrayal.
“You have been stripped of your position as the king's personal adviser. You will be confined in the south wing which is the abandoned palace. You can only come out whenever you decide to confess, now leave” I ordered sternly. He got up from the ground, bowed, took off his badge, and left my study. I’d feel bad for punishing him for the crimes he didn’t and also for not telling him my plans. I sighed helplessly, Lysander has been my loyal servant and friend. I won't let any harm come to him either, I muttered to myself but was suddenly cut short by an aggrieved tone. I locked my eyes and concentrated on the sound, “Demeter” I let out as I heard her asking about me but suddenly scolded Lysander when he told her that I’m busy managing some palace affairs. I cursed inwardly as I heard her last statement “what explanation?” I ruffled my hair, could it be that she also felt odd and spiteful after initiating the kiss, or did she find out she was under a spell? I battled with my mind. I can feel her anger as she stormed out and strode into her room.
“I’d have to explain things to her, but now she needs to relax.” I grabbed Lysander’s badge and threw it into the locker, I instructed the servants to clean up my study and left for my chambers.
Entering my chambers, I summoned lighting and muttered a few spells for a while. I snap my finger and two blue glistening pearls appeared on my palm, I smiled and kept it on the table, I’d give one to Lysander but he already left for the south wing, I only have Demeter now, maybe I would try and snuck the pearl into Lysander’s pocket, I snickered and glanced at the pearl and walk Into the bathhouse. I had my bath, wore my robe, and sat on the bed waiting for the servants to call me for dinner as Lysander had been confined in the south wing.
Shortly, I heard a thud on the door, “come in” I ordered, a fair brunette girl walked in and curtsy politely, “a new servant?” I uttered checking her out.
