The Colgate family fled from England and settled in America during the Civil war. Robert Colgate, William's father, was a farmer. William was interested in soap making and at the age of 19, he started his enterprise with his aunt's financial help. He produced soap under his name but unfortunately, the business was a failure.

Though William had to close down his initial business, he was determined to make a success of soap making. Encouragement came through the Bible and a friend. In Genesis 28: 20-21 he read about Jacob who committed to God as he left his home.

"Then Jacob made a vow to the LORD:If you will be with me and protect me in the journey I am making and give me food and clothing, and if I return safely to my father's home, then you will be my God… and I will give you a tenth of everything you give me."

William prayed the same prayer. His Christian friend had advised him, "Start right and you will go well. Be a good man. Give your heart to Christ: give God all that belongs to him. Make an honest soap and god will prosper you." William decided to honor God and give him first place in all his endeavors. He also decided that he would give one-tenth of his earnings to God.

William started his new venture on Dutch Street and gave God the tenth from the very first earning he made. God was given the first place in his life and career as he had covenanted. That was the beginning of a business enterprise, William Colgate and Company, whose products have conquered the world's cosmetic market. Its operations branched out from laundry soap manufacture into a host of other products, within a short time.

William was faithful to God and kept his promise. As God prospered him, he began to give more to God. From ten percent his giving gradually changed to 20 % then 30 and so on. The more he gave, the more he earned, this company started in 1857.

When Kimberly had finished the mission story everyone clapped for her, when Kimberly looked everywhere she was shocked that the parents didn't come to church, when the Sabbath day ended Kimberly went when she arrived, mom came out, Kimberly asked the mom " why she didn't come to church ?"

The mother replied, " I was busy, your dad called me that he is coming home and wanted his favorite cookies prepared for him I couldn't refuse your dad you know how he is."

Kimberly was so happy " are you sure mom dad is home",

Kimberly ran quickly and entered the house mistakenly bumped into Martha and failed down on the floor unconscious swoon out, Martha screamed Kimberly !"

Kimberly was rushed to the Thomas Jefferson university hospital, Troy Olivia and Martha were there, and the doctor came to tell them of her condition of Kimberly, everyone was scared to hear the news, apparently doctor Emma smiled and said to them " your daughter is quite fine, it was just a slight push but next time you should ensure that she doesn't incur in this kind of issue, cause you know she is suffering from Cancerous tumor an m pleased you are here Olivia because last time your husband left you",

All family was Happy to hear, the good news that Kimberly is doing fine,

Olivia "replied to doctor Emma thank you so much I and my husband are grateful, we are inviting you to our place even though our daughter is going to die soon."

Doctor Emma replied "you should ask God to heal your daughter I know a m bit aggressive right now but sometimes even us doctors can't do anything about it unless God if you believe and never give up on God your daughter will be fine.

Troy was touched by the encouragement from the doctor Emma and thanked her so much, Troy insisted she visit their place one day, and she agreed to it and the parents of Kimberly Olivia and Troy entered the room where Kimberly was and after some time she was discharged and the family went home.
