Lara Henderson-
I flutter my eyes at the feel of someone smoothing my hair away from my face.
"Wake up, baby," a voice says.
I whine and close my eyes, making the person laugh. "Sleep, please," I mumble. My body feels so tired.
"Baby, come on. Let me see those pretty greys I love so much."
I open my eyes slowly and am rewarded by the sight of Maddox's blue eyes connected to mine.
"There she is. As vibrant and beautiful as always."
I sit up when I realize I'm not at home, but in a white-walled hospital room instead. I look at Maddox. "Why am I here?"
"What do you remember?" He asks.
"Not much. It's mostly just bits and pieces. I remember seeing blood in my panties. I passed out after that," I explain. "Why am I here, Maddox?"
"Mom found you in the bathroom when she and Dad got there. She called me on the way to the hospital. That was the first I had heard about you or heard from you. I thought my world was gone, baby. I thought I lost you more than I already had."
I crawl out of the bed and into his lap, ignoring my stiff muscles and the tears as he wraps me in his arms tightly.
"I'm so glad you and the baby are okay," he whispers, making me pull back to look at him.
"The baby? What are you talking about?"
"You really didn't know, did you?"
I shake my head. "You're pregnant, sweetheart. Doc says your four weeks along," he explains and my hand flies to my stomach.
"I'm pregnant," I whisper to myself. "Is the baby okay?" I whisper again, this time to Maddox.
"Our baby is fine. Perfectly healthy," he responds.
I sit in silence for a moment, just staring at my hands on my stomach until Maddox says, "We need to talk, baby."
"Not now," I murmur.
"Lara, we have to." I drift my eyes to him.
"Not now. I just got you back to me. I don't want to ruin it or for you to leave me again," I tell him. His face turns full of pain and remorse.
"Baby, you never lost me. I've always been here and I always will be. I'm going to make sure that nothing, I mean nothing, happens like this to you on my watch. I promise," he says, holding me to him.
"Okay, but can we talk later? I'm still tired," I ask, yawning.
He kisses my forehead. "Of course, Sweet Pea."

Alpha Maddox Teller-
I gaze at her softened, expressionless features as she sleeps peacefully. After she fell asleep about an hour ago, I decided to have Lennon stop at the house for clothes or anything Lara might need when she wakes up again.
I think back to earlier when she said she lost me. I didn't imagine me leaving would hurt her so, but it did. We need to talk about what I did about her parents. I know it wasn't right, but I couldn't stand to see Lara suffering from the death of her parents anymore. She needs closure.
She needs to come home.
I hear giggling and smile when I see that Lara is awake. I lean towards her as she asks, "Were you staring at me?"
"Absolutely, sweet girl," I tell her.
"When can I go home?"
"The doctor says when you're checked over and cleared. Then, I'll take you home."
She hesitates before whispering. "Are you going to stay at home with me?"
"Of course, baby. My girl needs me. I'll be there as long as she does," I promise her.
"I'll always need you, Maddox."
