CHAPTER 4

FOUR: "Take a walk." “QUINT, I already believe everything that you said,” Flor said to Quint as she handed him back his I.D. They were inside the library and were sitting at a table as he was in front of those two girls―Flor and her friend Lili. “Really? You believe in me now, Flor?” He could not help but rejoice and be glad. She simply nodded. "Yes." “In that case, thanks a lot." "Don't you really remember how you suddenly came here from your present time?" Lili asked him. Flor and Quint both looked at the woman, and he shook his head at the question. "The last thing I remembered, I was only reading my late father's letter to me―" He stopped suddenly when he realized something. "Wait, you know too, Lili?" Lili nodded. Flor explained to her friend, "Lili has a natural talent for seeing what will happen in the future with her gifted vision.” Shocked, there was no reason for Quint not to believe what the two were saying. There were really things one couldn’t explain. They’re hard to believe, but they’re true. "I don't even know if it's a blessing or a curse,” Lili joked. Flor nodded to cheer up her friend. "You had that because I believe there’s a reason and a purpose for that, Lili." Quint nodded and agreed as well. “Flor is right, Lili. Maybe your prediction has a purpose. Always use it in good things.” Lili also agreed. "I also believe that, and I will start using it for good by helping you. Flor and I have discussed and agreed upon this. With my ability, we will help you get back to your present era, Quint.” The young man was surprised but felt so grateful for what Lili had just said. “Really? You will help me both? Thanks a lot! Now, thank you so much, Flor and Lili.” "Don't thank us yet," Flor said with a smile. “You haven't been able to come back. We just thought it would definitely be difficult for you to live in this time, in our time. Moreover, what you have grown up with is very different in this world. Your real time is modern, so it’s hard for you to live here in the year 1990. We will do our very best to help you get back as soon as possible.” "When something shows up in the vision, we'll tell you right away, Quint. Maybe that'll be the way for you to get back to the modern world." The young man finally took a deep breath. He doesn't know exactly when, but the fact that there are people willing to help him get back is good enough to somehow calm him down. Hopefully, he can already return to the year 2018… As the day went by and he saw Flor and Lili, he immediately tapped them to ask if the latter had already seen something in her vision that could help him. “I'm sorry, Quint. I always try to see them. Even when I close my eyes to sleep, I think about it, hoping that something will show up in my dream, but there’s none,” Lili said sadly. It was five days since he asked for help from his friends, but as always, he got disappointed every time that there was still no way he could return to the present time. He smiled sadly and nodded. "It’s okay, Lili.” If there isn’t a way yet, he's ready to wait. The important thing is that he knows he is not alone with this, and there are people willing to help him. “When I see anything, I will let you know right away. Don't worry. Don't lose hope. You are definitely going to go back, my friend,” Lili tapped his shoulder and turned to Flor. “Guess I have to go now? I have to run some errands to the library.” They both nodded, and Lili took her way. Quint couldn't help but be overwhelmed. He really wanted to go back, but he couldn't do anything. His shoulders dropped. “Don't be sad, Quint. As Lili said, we will find a way for you to return to your present time. I'm not sure how quick it can be, but I'm positive you can come back,” Flor cheered him up softly when they were left standing in the corridor. She smiled positively as she tapped his shoulder. He couldn't help but smile as he looked at the hand on his shoulder. She feels like a magnet, and her positivity attracts him a lot, so that somehow, so even for a moment, he forgets that he is thinking of a problem. "For now, let’s go. I’m going to show you around,” the girl continued, and then took his hand. Innocently, he glanced at their holding hands. For that moment, he felt that the hand holding him had a great connection to his heart. "Wait, Flor…" he paused for a moment. She looked into his eyes. "Why?" He smiled cutely. "Where are we going?" “We will be touring some parts of the campus while it is not yet time for our classes. I will tour you. I'm sure our school looks different today than in the modern era where you come from.” He just laughed softly as she enthusiastically continued pulling him towards the field. “Woah! This is the historic Gabaldon building! It looks different at this time compared to what it looked like in 2018. If the classrooms here are still made of pallets, everything is cemented and painted with white doors in the modern world. Though they kept it still looking classic since it’s heritage and historic, it’s really different here in your time,” he said in amazement as they stood in front of the Gabaldon building. Inevitably, it drew amazement and curiosity into the beautiful face of the maiden. “Really? It is very different in your time. Maybe it looks nicer there, doesn’t it? Because you’re advanced, and you can almost do anything in the advanced era.” He just smiled and continued gazing at the historic building. “At some point, yes. But these good old times are also gold, where life is simple, and there is no such modernization. ” They continued walking and sightseeing. "This is the Science Laboratory building," she said as they both looked at one floor of a building. They are standing here outside underneath an acacia tree in front of the said building. "I guess those wooden windows and pallets were already made of solid steel and glass in your time, am I right?" Unbelievably, he looked at the smiling maiden as she guessed it right. "How did you know?" What she just actually stated was true. In 2018, all the windows in each building were made of modern and durable glass. No longer made of wood, unlike what he was seeing today. "I'm just guessing," she replied brightly. "You were talking about how modernized your world is, so I know the materials you have in your time are better." He smiled and nodded, then looked at the building. "Did you know that one-storey building of the Science Lab, which’s also four-storey in 2018? The first to the third floors are classrooms for medical-related courses, and on the fourth floor, which is often called the top floor, is the entire Science Laboratory.” "Really?" Her eyes widened as she looked at what he told her. “This one-storey building is now four-storey in the year 2018?” He looked at her and proudly nodded. “On the second floor, in the fifth classroom out of ten classrooms on that floor, there could be Room 205, where my classroom is. I’m taking Pharmaceutics. And I’m glad to know that, somehow, in this era, I also happen to be a medical student.” They continued walking, and they stopped at a wide vacant lot. "Is this still a vacant lot in the modern era?" He shook his head. “Greenfield was covered by Bermuda grass everywhere. Only a few parts have been turned into gardens, gated by white wooden-made gates, and maintained to make them even more beautiful. The rest of the huge wide field is a free field where students can roam around and hang out when there are no classes. Students with P.E classes sometimes turn it into a soccer field. ” "Based on your stories, I really feel you come from a great period." He nodded while smiling humbly. "I won’t even deny that." "That's why you really want to go back there, huh?" He nodded again. It was only until the end of July that the three still had not found any way to bring Quint back to his real world.
