Chapter Seven Ted looked like he wanted to speak with us, too. I’d noticed while we were talking with Augusta that Ted had been speaking with Burton. I wondered if he’d thought of some information to share with him. Or maybe he was opening up a little more about the blackmail. But before Ted reached us, there was a grim throat-clearing cough behind us that made me jump. It was Zelda Smith, our red-haired, chain-smoking homeowner association president. She’d finally succeeded in wrangling Grayson onto the HOA board and I felt sure she’d hadn’t entirely given up on convincing me to join.
