The anger that sparks in his eyes makes me think I am in more danger here in the open than alone with him in the forest.
“What are you staring at me for?” Alarick grunts as he stops at arms' length from me.
My mouth opens and closes as I try to find the right answer, but nothing comes out. I am left dumbfounded and, despite the cacophony of questions and thoughts I had, I had nothing to say to him. Not when he looked ready to explode at any given moment.
“You’re here to heal Nora, aren’t you?!” He continues, gesturing towards the nearby house. “Get your ass inside and do what you’re supposed to do!” He barks and my skin turns to goosebumps.
My eyes fall to the ground and I nod in rush, before I turn on the balls of my feet and rush inside, not giving it any second thought.
