It took me four years to graduate with a three-year Bachelor of Arts degree. I failed to realize until my third year that I was supposed to be taking six and not five courses per year, and when I asked Simon why he or Ellen didn’t say anything to me about my reduced workload, he responded, “I figured you were having enough trouble with five.” I ended up majoring in English, which meant that out of my twenty-one mostly bird courses, seven of them were English Lit.
