7 ZEKE I found my usual place beside Aaron as the praise and worship team rocked the house on Sunday morning. Once my roaming eyes located Lily and Levi sitting down near the front of the auditorium with her parents, I wasn’t able to look elsewhere. Twice, she leaned into him, shoulders brushing with his as she whispered something in his ear. They stood every time the rest of the congregation did, hands clasped between them. Jealousy kept my stomach clenched for the full hour of the service, and trying to focus on Pastor Welker’s message was an absolute joke. The need to flee from where God had led me only to test me had me shifting on my feet. “Everything alright?” Aaron asked me as soon as the final song drew to an end and the lights rose to full force for the congregation to exit.
