Epilogue.

Layla Hendrix- I stare at my husband as the news breaks in. "So, you're seriously telling me Lennon has agreed to this?" I ask, my hands on my hips and my eyebrows raised. I may look calm, but on the inside I'm worried for my son. The very thought of my baby boy becoming beta of the pack scares the living s**t out of me. I don't want my babies to grow up. Both Rhiannon and Sophia are in college. Rhiannon is getting her degree in psychology while Sophia is going to night school. She plans to be a neonatal surgeon. They also work for me at the store. Lennon, however, has focused mainly on training and hanging out with his cousin Maddox. Nash looks at me from his position at his desk. I accidentally overheard a meeting in Nash's office when I decided to pay a visit to the pack house. Which led us to having this conversation. He nods. "He has agreed. Reece has decided to step down as well. He wants Maddox to follow in his path. Maddox has also agreed," he explains. I feel the tears come, but I make no move to stop them. Nash's expression softens before turning surprised when I screech, "f**k!" "Layla." "f**k," I exclaim again, my hands in my hair. "Layla, baby." I shake my head repeatedly. "I have to go. I-" "Sweet Pea," he calls, walking towards me. Then, I'm in his arms as I break down and sob. "Please don't cry, baby," he says to the top of my head. "Mom?" A deep voice calls. I pull away from Nash to find Lennon standing at the door, his gaze concerned. I wipe away the rest of the tears under my eyes and put on a smile. "Hi, baby." He walks further in to the room and looks down at me. "Are you okay, Mom?" He questions in a gentle tone. I sniff. "I'm fine, sweetie. Your father was just telling me about your decision to become the beta." His face pales a little. "Are you mad?" "No." I shake my head. "I'm not only proud, I'm scared. I feel like you guys are growing up too fast. I want you to stay the same sweet baby boy I held at the hospital," I tell him. He chuckles and envelopes me in a hug. "Mom, I'm still you're baby boy. I always will be," he promises. I give in and sigh. "Okay, but you have to promise me that you'll be careful. And I'm warning you, if you get a girl pregnant that isn't your mate, I will cut off your junk," I threaten, making both Lennon and Nash burst out laughing. I smile. This is bliss.
