19: Shattered

Cern waited for what felt like an eternity for his Goddess to return to him. Days, then weeks, then more than a month passed until he realized: She would not be coming back for him. His heart shattered into a million pieces, and the peace and love he had felt morphed into something dark and sinister. Her Mark pulsed on his arm, a hateful reminder of the betrayal. It seared his eyes and skin as he worked daily in the stables, which had been the only escape from the torture his mind conjured. But the Mark flashed before his eyes as he labored, preventing him from working out the frustration, the utter rage he felt. He decided to go after her. She would face him.
