Chapter 16

Shock and fear frozen into place, he looked at me as if he were studying me closer than he ever had. I couldn’t get a mouth to move to ask why he was following me. I guess I need a little proof and just Leo’s words saying I’m a demon. But yet here is one standing in front of me with wings spread out.      “Are you Lisa?”     “yes”      The words came out shaky and hesitant.  He didn’t seem to think anything weird of it and held out his hand. One part of me told me to take it, the other told me to leave and never look back. But I listened to the part that told me to take it. I reached out my hand placing my palm to his. His long fingers wrapped around mine and he started to flap his wings. He took me up and up over the trees and the view is beautiful. I saw another demon swoop down and grab my bags.      The one who is holding my hand pulled me up to wrap his arms around me. He took off with the other demon following, wings so powerful, he was strong, skin red, eyes black as coal. The wind was cold to my skin and I couldn’t help try to get warm against his body. Then I thought of the fire and it started to warm me. It was as if he could tell I was cold and pulled me closer to him. It felt like we were flying for a while, I saw a castle in the middle of the woods, deep in the middle of nowhere. It was gorgeous with the tall towers, there was no gate, the bricks were dark and covered with moss.      We landed right in front of the big double doors, he let me go on the other team and landed beside him, handing me my bags. The one who held me, motioned me to follow him, we walked in the castle and into a throne room. The room was almost bare but a couple of statues and paintings, at the end of the hall there was the chair. Red velvet cover at the whole thing besides the legs and the armrests. The legs are a mess for metal, almost a worn copper. I couldn’t help but to stare at it. It was so gorgeous just sitting there.      Something caught my attention out of the corner of my eye. A man stood there as if studying me, he had long brown hair, blue eyes, and a little taller than me. I could tell he was older, maybe 20 years older than me, I’m only 22. There was something familiar about him but I couldn’t quite place it. The demon standing behind whispered something into my ear.      “He’s your father, go talk to him.”     I walked over slowly and held out my hand to shake his. What he did shocked me more than anything. He pulled me into him and hugged me. I hesitated before I hugged him back, not able to move away. He finally let me go and I stepped back.      “What’s your name?”      “Lisa”     “That’s nice, when you were born I named you Dismona. Look how much you have grown.”      I wanted to ask So many questions, something was stopping me though. I looked down at my feet wondering if he was actually happy to see me. I couldn’t help but feel like I didn’t really know this person about the same time I did. I looked back up into his eyes and saw pure joy. Just then I thought of Leo, if he was OK and what he was doing. I wanted to go back to Leo, but at the same time I wanted to stay here and learn.      “I don’t know much about being a demon, can you help me?”      “Of course my child, Dean here will teach you.”      I looked back over to the demon that was standing behind me.  He had a slight smile on his face, he generally looked happy just as much as my father was. This almost felt like home. At the same time it was also missing something, what that was I did not know yet. My father then nodded to Dean, he then held out his hand and I took it once again. He let me out of the room and down a long hallway lit by torches hanging on the walls.      I remembered how to get back to the throne room, but the doors I was standing in front of now had my full attention. He opened them and walked in with my bags, the bed was huge, a queen maybe, The curtains were black, floors were a soft gray carpet, the bathroom was Half the size of the room, and the closet was one of those you saw in the catalog with shelves for shoes and clothes. I couldn’t help but to fall in love with the bedroom that they had given me. He put my bags on the bed, with the red comforter and fluffy pillows. I walked over and sat softly on the bed sinking in.      “Thank you.”      “Your welcome.”      He then walked out because the doors behind him, it was getting dark out the sun was starting to set for the beautiful colors in the sky. I went out the doors onto the balcony across from the bathroom in the bedroom. There were chairs to sit down and a lovely table, I sat down and couldn’t help but look at the sky.   I think I sat there for a couple hours, I had lost track of time when I went inside and saw that it was 11 o’clock at night.      I went over to the bed and put my bags on the floor sitting down on the bed softly, laying down almost made me go to sleep instantly. . I pulled off my shirt and pants leaving just my tank top on, and then pull back the covers and crawled in the bed, I fell asleep so fast and so hard, I hadn’t slept like that in years.
