The Wolf Within My Love

Chapter 14

    Leo is the man they have brought in here and chained up in front of me. He is the one they have been shooting at and he was trying to save me after I asked him not too. I love him and this was going to be worse than before. They went ahead and gave him a syringe full of wolf bane, his body flinched and he started to wake up. At this point I’m crying and can’t hold it back anymore. 

    I watch as they leave the room and look back at Leo who is staring at me. He has pain in his eyes, I can’t get out what I want to say. 

    “I’m sorry I failed.” 

    “No, no…. I told you not to come. Why?”

    “I need you, I can’t lead my pack without you. I can’t eat or sleep.” 

    “Now what?” 

    “I’m going to get us out of here.” 

    “How?” 

    He looks away as if to think about it. He turns back to me and doesn’t say anything, now I know he never planned on this. He can’t communicate with the pack, not with the wolf bane. He doesn’t have a plan and now we are both stuck here. They walk back in and start their plan on how to do this. Branden stands in front of me with the knife. The other man stands beside Leo, but he doesn’t have anything. 

    He put the knife against my skin and s***h’s, Leo tries to look away but the other man holds him to make him look. Leo has a pained look on his face, I can tell he didn’t expect this. He then slices me open again, I scream so loud from the pain, he then lathers his hand with wolf bane and smears it all over the cut he just made. Leo tries to pull on the chains to get to me. 

    Branden then moves over to Leo with the same knife, and slashes him across his neck. Rage hits me with tears welling back up, I feel something in my chest like a fire was started. Leo looks up at me and I can see how sorry he is. None of this was his fault, he needed to know that. So I pull on the chains yet again opening the cuts that have been there for awhile. Blood running down my arms, I look at Branden and stop myself. 

    “If you hurt him again, I will kill you.” 

    He then looks at me and smiles, he takes the knife and cuts him deep in the stomach. The feeling in my chest is full of power, full of rage, I want to let it out. Then it’s like something spreads over my body. Leo’s eyes get wide with shock, I look down to see fire all over me. It’s not burning me but almost protecting me. I could feel it as a power that has been in me for years but is now being released. 

    I look back up at Leo and smile, I then look up at the chains to see then melting. I pull my arms down and metal drips from my skin. I look up at Branden to see pure raw fear, I walk over and grab him by the neck.  He drops the knife and tries to grab my arm but the flames burn him even more. Before I knew it I was holding only the bones of his neck and the flames were blue. I look over at Leo and walk over, I grab the chains the melt then to get him free. 

    I walk in front of him to the door, noticing that he is following me. I open the door and walk into a hallway, I then look at Leo who is still staring at me. 

    “You came in here awake, lead the way.” 

    He then moves past me and starts running. I run after him and see a door in the distance after making a couple of turns. We are almost out. Then the other man stands out in front of us. Leo completely stops, almost making me run into him. I then push Leo off to the side and walk up. The man looks at me with rage and fear, I smile and grab him by the arms lifting him off the ground. I make the fire hotter than before and burn his whole body to a crisp. 

    I drop his bones to the floor and look over to see Leo. He then points to the door, I walk over and open it. 

    “Go, I’ll meet you out there.” 

    He turned around and ran past me, I could see him go to the edge of the trees that were maybe a mile back. I walked back to where I was being tortured before, The flame that was all over my body grew all the way to the ceiling. I know this power must be taken care of and not used for evil but only good. This place was evil from all of the torture that was going on. 

    I decided to use this new found power and burn this place to the ground. There was something in me, something different from everyone else. I needed to know what that was and the only way to know, is to find out more about my past. I rubbed my hand on the ground watching the fire spread then I stood up and walked back to the door. As I put my hands on the cold metal, I could feel it warm and start to melt underneath my palms. 

    The heat of the fire was so hot that it must’ve been from hell. But why is this happening? Why is this happening to me? I’m just an ordinary girl that was changed to be a wolf. Is that what could’ve caused this newfound power to emerge? So many questions, but no answers, at least not yet. 

    I walked down the halls, both hands spread out letting the fire leave my body through my palms. The building went up in flames around me but none of them hurt or burned my skin. I then went to the exit that I left Leo at. He was still standing there watching at the tree line, his eyes were wide, he was in pure shock. I then stepped out of the building, I walked up to him slowly letting him process what had just happened. 

    He backed away slowly, realizing I was still on fire, I calmed my mind, not sure if it would work but, it did, the flames went away as if they were never there. I looked back up at him and smiled. He had come to my rescue even though I had asked him not to, awakening something so deep in my soul, body, and mind. Now the journey to find out what I truly am, is the one that’s going to be the hardest. I know nothing of my parents, they were never around when I was a child. I was in foster care for most of my life.
