Chapter 3

1033 Words
Once I got all of my things put away in drawers or in the bathroom I heard the music stop, he had been down there working out for a while. I couldn't help but to think about the way he would be sweaty and shirtless. I could hear him come up the stairs and stop at my door for a moment and I couldn't help but to hope he would come in and kiss me. But as soon as the thought came and went. I heard him walk on to the next room and settle in. I could hear the shower running and the door open and close to the bathroom. I decided it was time for me to go to bed and catch up on sleep after not sleeping for two days.      Waking up the next morning was hard, my body was awake but my mind was still trying to sleep. I looked over at the clock beside the bed. It was only two thirty in the morning. Why do I have such a hard time sleeping all the time? I got up and walked down stairs to the living room, sitting on the couch grabbing the remote, as I hit the power button there was something out of the corner of my eye, I looked over to the sliding glass door. It was cracked open, I walked over and slowly closed it thinking that maybe he had left open after I went to sleep. After I closed the door I could see something moving in the woods, it was big and looked like it was on all fours. It slowly came out of the shadows and it was looking right at me, a wolf, so big that if it stood on its hind legs it would tower over me.      I should have felt panic but for some reason I didn't, I was calm. I opened the door and walked out slowly, I left the door open behind me not really thinking it would bolt passed me. I walked down the stairs slowly towards the wolf, it didn't move but watched me. I stopped coming towards the wolf with about ten feet between use. It bowed its head and slowly came up to me, once there was only three feet between us it stopped and closed its eyes. I reached out my hand and softly touched its head, the fire was soft and I thought the wolf jumped from shock when I touched him. There was something different about this wolf, its size and the way it reacted to me petting him. He then slowly backed up from me and back into the shadows, I backed up a couple of steps and then turned around going back up to the house.       I closed the door behind me not bothering to lock the door, I mean what's the use when we are in the middle of nowhere. The wolf's reaction still shocked me and made me wonder what kind of wolf he was. I couldn't go back to sleep after that, so instead I went down to the basement to the game room, I found video games galore, a pool table and dartboards. I picked up some darts from the case by the dartboard and started throwing, it had been awhile since I had played. But it seemed to be like a walk in the park, I picked it back up like I used to play in competitions. I hit the bulls eye a couple of times but really close the rest of the time.  Before I knew it, the sun was coming up, I heard him coming down the stairs and decided to ignore the fact that I had been playing for hours.      “What are you doing?”       I looked over at him and through again.      “Playing darts.”      “For how long?” I shrugged      “Hours, I think since maybe three this morning.”      I looked at me shocked, but then slowly came over and grabbed some darts himself.      “You look like you know what you are doing. When did you learn to play?” it was his turn now      “Since I was about twelve.” he nodded and started to throw his own.      He hit the bulls eye all three times. I looked at him shocked, he shrugged and said.     “I’ve been playing since I was about eight.” I nodded and looked away.      “So did you see anything last night since you were up so early?”      “Yea I saw a wolf outside in the backyard. He was gorgeous.”      “How did you know it was a boy?” I looked at him, he had a smirk on his face.      “I don't know know, I was just guessing.”      He smiled then and turned away, I looked after him and saw scares on the back of his arm. I walked over and touched him, he jumped away from me like he didn't know I was there.      “What are those scares from?”  He looked at me shocked and took a minute to answer.      “It’s from a log time ago, I was a kid and roaming the grounds. Found a cliff and almost went over, the rocks ripped open the back of my arm.” He looked at me with something in his eyes, something that seemed almost animal, like he need something or me.      I had to look away, but he grabbed me so I couldn't, the way he touched me was so gentle but demanding. I wanted him to touch me and it looked like he wanted to as well. But then something hit me, I was just in a relationship with someone an I don't even know if they know its over.      “Lisa, darling, don't be scared, and think about that right now.” He had shocked me by using my name. He hasn’t used my name since the night we met.      “Are you scared of me?”     “No”     “Then what is it?”     “You haven't said my name since that night.”
