We were parked by the river, behind the Verdun auditorium with the heater on full blast. The car windows were fogged and Nick’s scent was slowly filling up the car, taking me under, deep down into myself, somewhere warm and dangerous I’d never gone to, like a jungle where beasts were lurking in a luxurious foliage.
