  Author’s Note I worked in the world of technical theatre and conference for a while as an extra pair of hands for Mr AL, who was a lighting technician. I used ladders, plural, without thought when I wrote this, as that’s what’s they’re called in the industry. Steps which stand to make an A shape are always plural. However, my editor pulled me up on it when she was editing, as it wasn’t common usage to her. After a lot of discussion between us and a straw poll in my f*******: group, we decided to go with the correct usage and put a note in the front for non-theatre-technical people. Zarges are a brand.
