After picking up my car, I drove straight to the Archives for my juvenile facility information.
The Florida State Archives, under the jurisdiction of the Florida Department of State, is responsible for the collection and preservation of historically significant records. That can include documents, photographs, videos, etc. (I like to imagine holograms stored there in the future.) They also act as the repository for postconviction public records in capital cases, basically a neutral clearinghouse for a lot of boxes as the State and the Defense battle over information in death penalty appeals.
With such significant responsibilities, you’d think the Archives would have its own building, if not its own block. Instead, it shares one of the less attractive government buildings in our capita
