A nerve at the back of my neck prickled with anger and another emotion I do not have a name for as I approached the three of them standing by the hallway.
I didn't need to ask to taste the tension that skittered between the three of them.
“Aha! There you are,” Orton said as he turned around to the sound of my approaching footsteps.
“What's going on here?” I questioned, ignoring him.
Kane shifted his gaze to face me. “Nothing that is any of your business,”
I ignored him and walked around to face Jessica whose face was bowed. “Are you okay?”
She nodded her head slowly and didn't say a word. The fact that she didn't even say a word to me was enough to tell me that she wasn't well.
I swallowed hard and repeated myself. “Are you okay Jessica?” I inquired.
