Chapter |8| Haunting Of Sunnyville Motel

L O L A ' S P. O . V Apparently being trapped in a car with someone for several hours doesn't really scream fun. The conversation died out a while ago and the tunes on the radio are crap. As static starts to buzz through, I groan in frustration and slam my hands against the speaker. "I don't think that will work." Lucien snorts with a thick air of smugness. I think I dislike arrogant Lucien the most, first was definitely possessive Lucien...actually I kind of like him. When he's not being a raging controlling monster. "I know." Eventually I give up, and sink down into my seat. At least the warmth radiating through the rich leather seats is comforting. I side glance to Lucien, who displays no obvious sign of boredom or awkwardness on his face. Instead, he graces a small smiling, eyes fixed on the road, humming along to some tune I ever heard of. I wanted to ask him so many things: his favourite movie, his first happy memory, what he likes, what he hates, but that all feels like first date things to ask. This was not our first date. I want to very clear about that, especially when I'm dressed in joggers and a T shirt that I stole from my brother. I decided to change at the last stop, my dress kept riding up and Lucien was getting distracted. "What are you humming?" He looked over at me startled, as though just releasing he was doing it. A blush crept over his cheeks for the first time. I fought to hide my smile, it was incredibly cute. "Just a little song my mother used to sing to me. I guess it gets stuck in my mind sometimes." "What was she like?" An involuntary smile flickered across his face. My heart clenched. "She was perfect. Kind, sweet, brave, giving. She ruled over the kingdom as a Queen should. When she died I...I was fourteen, and I saw them...those witches they murdered her with their damn magic." "But you met Skylar, and you liked her. Right?" I found myself praying on all the hope I could muster. "Yes, she was nice. I know not all witches are like that, but you can't deny that Skylar has done wicked things because of her power. She murdered her father." "She didn't meant to. It was an accident." "Exactly, because of her powers." He spoke as if there was no room for falsity in his statement. As if his word was truth. That scared me most, more than the prospect of Lucien fearing me. God, what will he do when he finds out? "Lucien I need to tell you something..." "A rest stop. Thank god for that, I'm starving." He winked, grinning as he turned off towards the exit. I laughed half heartedly and buried down the truth once more. *** "I could have taken you somewhere fancier." Lucien remarked snobbishly as I engorged myself in my fat juicy burger he just bought me from Burger King. My hands went savagely for the pot of the fries. "No way, this is so good." He made a noise of disgust, his fork playing with the remnants of his sad salad. "Want some?" I held up a big greasy chip covered in cheese and sour cream. "No thanks." I shrugged and popped it into my mouth. My mind was practically salvaging as the rich tastes as they exploded like a supernova inside of my mouth. So good. "How can you eat that? Do you know what's in it?" "No, and I don't want to. It tastes good and keeps my tummy happy." "You're crazy." His lips tilted up slightly as he leaned back in all his powerful stature. "You literally drink..." I did a quick glance around to make sure no-one could overhear. "Blood." I whispered. "Yes, and there are many nutrients within it. You know what they say, a blood bag a day keeps the doctor away." I snorted, laughing into my Coke. "Yeah, that's not the saying." "It's still better than that crap. When we get to the pack, I'll take you to the diner." My head felt numb against freezing cold drink, as I sat it down on the table. "You have a diner?" "Of course we do. Remember that it's ours now." "Not until the mating is completed." I murmured. "Hey," My body electrified into pure stun as he sat his fingers atop of mine. Gently caressing my skin, under the rough pads of his thumb. "What's mine is yours. We're one now, mated or not. We chose each other." "I know, it just feels strange. Like we're married or something." "Technically we're more than married. Our souls are interlinked and we belong to one another." He winked saucily, stealing one of my fries and throwing it into his mouth. Giggles erupted at the sour look on his face. I swear he almost turned green as he forced himself to swallow it down. "Hey!" The bastard stole my Coke, downing the entire thing in one go. "Okay now that's a little dramatic." "Relax, I'll buy you a new one." "Doesn't matter, I'm done anyways." "How are you..." His eyes gazed over the pile of empty wrappers all over the table. "Holy s**t. That was fast." "What can I say? I have the appetite of a wolf." My body thrummed to the rhythm of his deep raspy laugh. f**k, we had another six hours left of the drive. How the hell was I supposed to keep my hands to myself. "I need to pee." It was almost as if the sign for the bathroom had triggered the sudden need. "Okay, I'll wait here." "Don't you need to fill up the car?" I remember him muttering something about it before we got out the car. "Yes, but it's dark now and I don't want to leave you." "I'm just peeing, I'll be like two seconds. Go," when he didn't move, I shoved him towards the exit. "Go!" "Okay, okay. Come straight to the car." "Yes daddy." I taunted. His eyes turned into narrow skits, a feral growl slipping from his throat. Shit. What the f**k did I just say? "I didn't mean it. I mean I did, but not in that context, I didn't meant it to sound like that I only wanted to..." My words drifted off as I noticed his eyes slowly slipping from amber to black. "No, no, no." Quickly, pushed over to him and pressed my hands to cheeks, forcing his eyes onto mine. The cool breeze that rushed in helped to calm his wolf down, forcing the beast to retreat back into Lucien. "I'm sorry." I murmured. "I wasn't thinking." "No, it's fine. You were only messing around, we both were. I need to control myself better around you. I swear it's like all my inhibitions are just free, there's no restraints with you. I can't seem to hold back." "I kind of like that, and I'm the only one who can tame you." He laughed, bending down to press a kiss against my forehead. "Yes you are. Be safe." "I will." The promise seemed to signify so much more than I just going to the bathroom and back to the car. Reluctantly, we parted. Drifting away slowly to our destinations. God, it was definitely going to be hard resisting him now. Every part of my body wanted him. Every part of me. I quickly did my business and left the stall to wash my hands. Feeling the cold lingering of eyes watching me, I glanced back to notice a trio of girls leaning against the driers with scowls plastered on their faces. Their faces were piled with unnecessary makeup and their outfits were a little extreme for a rest stop. "Excuse me." I gestured to the drier with wet hands. They made no effort to move so instead I reached for the door, when a bare leg blocked my exit. I followed the bare leg up until I reached a face. The woman pulled a nasty sneer at me, so abruptly that I moved back. "Who was that man you were with? Is he your brother, sweetie?" Lucien? This whole thing was about Lucien? Of course it was, the man was hotter than Chris Evans on a bad day. "Uh, no actually he's my..." Can't say mate. "Boyfriend." They scoffed in unison. "Really? I mean, that's just not true is it." Rocking back on heels, I offered them a tight lipped smile. "Well, it is. Now excuse me." One of them placed her hands on my chest, as I attempted to leave. "Seriously? Over a guy?" "He's mine." She demanded in true toddler fashion. What the f**k?" "You don't even know his name." Screw this. My fist clenched up tight as I punched her straight in the face. Her head snapped to one side, and she had the nerve to look shocked. I mean, the b***h had it coming. She charged at me, knocking me back against the sink. My head smacked on the steel sink, causing the room to spin a little, but I let my wolf take over to block the punch heading my way. Just let me do it. She ordered. Fine. My leg shot out to trip her up, making her to stumble and smash her head on the wall. She fell to the floor, body slumped and out cold. Warily, I turned to the assess the over two. One of them yelled out a cry and came at me. I punched her straight in the boob and then threw her over my shoulder, letting her fall on the floor in a heap. The final one stared at me with a slight tremble of fear. Her eyes kept moving from me to her friend and back to me. Eventually, she just ran out and left. Good work. My wolf retreated back in, letting my eyes return to their normal colour. I used the drier and quickly left the bathroom before security came. "She's in there!" The last girl cried, as two guards burst into the bathroom. Thankfully, I was already slipping out the rest stop. "There you are. You took your time." Lucien was already effortlessly sexy, and there was a grease mark streaked across his cheek which just amplified everything. "Yeah, long line." I glanced around for the monstrosity that was his car. "Where is it?" "Somethings wrong with the carburettor. I had to get the shop to fix it but they say it won't be done until tomorrow morning." "Tomorrow morning? So what the hell are we going to do?" His face remained impassive, yet the alluring lure of his eyes twinkling amiss the darkly lit sky became increasingly hard to resist. "I was thinking we could stay at a motel." "A motel?" Spending the night together in some crammed motel with only one bed? Yep, that should soothe my burning libido. "Is there a problem?" "No, it's just...are we going to be sleeping in the same bed together?" The question brought about the amused smile that spread across his face whenever I blurted out so thing stupid. "Do you want to?" "No!" The smile dropped. "No, I mean...I didn't meant that way it's just...well..." "We've slept together before." I gave him a sharp look. "You know what I mean? In the same bed and I assume it was nice." "It was, but I was drunk. I didn't know that I was asking you to sleep next to me. I just think it's a little soon, I'd prefer separate beds." So I won't jump you in your sleep. "If that's what you want." Great, he was pissed. Well not pissed, just not exactly smiling and happy. The motel across the street was a small retro place with actual keys that had large tags labelling the room number on them. I felt a strange eerie chill as we walked up to reception. A ghost like smile crossed the face of the pale figure of a man stood behind the counter. "Welcome to Sunnyvale Motel, what can I do for you?" "Two rooms." Lucien gruffly replied. The man flicked through his large dusty record book, letting his finger drift over the thick layer of dust, and then shook his head. "We only have one room available I'm afraid." "That's not going enough." "That's fine." I announced, overpowering Lucien. Quickly, I snatched the key and walked ahead to find the room. Although the place was small it was like a ghost town. No sounds echoed from behind the wooden doors, only crickets chirping in the distance broke apart the creeping silence. The door creaked open in a true haunting fashion. When I turned on the lights, an automatic fan started whirring incessantly on the ceiling, and the rush of cold air sparked throughout the room. Setting down my bag on the abnormally small Queen sized bed, I unzipped it and pulled out some clothes. "This place is filthy." I remarked, staring at the stains splattered across the walls and the carpet. Lucien snorted. "It looks someone was murdered here." "And you thought that burger was bad." That earned a small, and then a frown flickered across his face. "I would offer to sleep on the floor but..." Yeah, I wouldn't sleep on that either. "It's fine. We can share a bed. I wouldn't make anyone sleep on that." "What was with that guy anyways? I feel like we just entered American Horror Story." Ditto to that. That strange feeling kept coming over me, the kind you got when it felt like someone was watching you, even though you were home alone. I was kind of glad for it. At least I wasn't honey anymore, and there was no chance of us having s*x in this bed. It was probably filled with more germs than that rest stop bathroom. Stripping back the covers, I laid down a towel over the thin sheets stretched over the mattress and quickly changed into a jumper and some leggings whilst Lucien was in the bathroom. Then we swapped, but when I came out, Lucien was wearing nothing but a pair of thin pyjama pants. "I hope you don't mind. I get quite hot at night." I flushed sheepishly, and averted my eyes. "I thought vampires were supposed to be cold." "Technically I'm half vampire and half werewolf, so the two kind of counteract one another and also that's just a rumour." I stopped fluffing my pillow and glanced up at him in amusement. "Garlic?" "Garlic bread is my favourite food." "Coffins?" "Not unless we're dead, and even then I'm a tad claustrophobic." Laughter erupted from my chest. "What about blood?" "What about it?" I found myself staring into his amber eyes intently. That magnetic pull becoming increasingly stronger and luring me in. "Do you ever get tempted by it?" "Sometimes." "And by mine?" All humour has been stricken. Now all that was left was a intense silence which seemed to stretch on forever. Finally, he licked his lips and walked around the bed. I felt my n*****s harden beneath his cold eyed stare, a strange malicious feeling exuding out of them. He stopped merely inches away from me, so close I could trace every contour and line on his face with my eyes. God was he beautiful. "Always. There's always that feeling, that lure of your pulse thrumming against the soft skin of your neck. It's torture really, but I've always been a bit of a masochist." "Why? If it's that bad then why did you choose me?" "Because," His finger swept back my dark hair, curling behind my ear. "That feeling, it's heightened with you because you're my other half. It's like my wolf...there's nothing more he wants in this world than to f**k you, to mark you and make you ours. The monster inside of me wants the same thing, except your blood instead." "And you?" I murmured breathlessly. "What do you want?" "I want it all. The mating, the marking, the blood, your heart and your soul. I just want you." f**k it. Rising up on my tiptoes, I smashed my lips against his and let the wolf inside of me take over. I was done with restraint and the longing, for once on my life I was letting myself succumb to my desires. Succumb to him. ________________________________ A/N: Finally!!! The tension was killing me but this was one of my favourite chapters to write. I love the banter between them and how Lucien is just the perfect blend of possessive and gentleman. There was a scene meaning to be in this chapter but it was just so good and perfect and I didn't think it fit this story's aesthetic or romance so I moved it into chained Princess instead. Any ideas what is?? I'll give you a hint, it's very smutty. ? What did you think of the chapter? Fav moment?
