Inside the private room of the hospital, Rahi lay unconscious on the bed, while Raghav Williams stood nearby, his dark and deep eyes fixed on her. His hands were buried in his pockets, and his expression remained emotionless. Assistant Neeraj approached Raghav, glancing briefly at the pale woman. His voice trembled as he spoke, tears welling in his eyes. "The team couldn't find him." Raghav Williams felt a coldness wash over his palms, and he turned his gaze towards Neeraj, his dark eyes holding a mix of sorrow and disbelief. "We've lost him," Neeraj admitted, covering his face with his hands, attempting to control his emotions. Raghav Williams looked back at the woman lying on the bed, his thoughts racing with the weight of the situation. … Rahi's eyes fluttered open at six o'clock in the morning, her consciousness returning after a long bout of unconsciousness. Just then, a warm hand touched her forehead, triggering a flood of memories from the previous night. "Anu..." she gasped, sitting up abruptly, her mind racing. She tried to get out of bed, but a strong grip on her wrist held her back. Turning her head, she found herself locked in the gaze of a man who had been sitting by her bedside, his expression serious. "Let me go," Rahi pleaded, her voice filled with urgency. "Where do you think you're going?" "I need to find him," she insisted, attempting to free herself. But Raghav Williams held her wrist firmly, refusing to let her go. "Stay put," he commanded, guiding her to sit back on the bed. Rahi struggled, desperate to leave, but Raghav maintained his grip on her wrist. Sitting opposite her, Raghav locked eyes with her, his gaze intense and unwavering. "You have to believe what I'm about to tell you," he implored. "Do you want to repeat what Neeraj said? I don't want to hear it from you. Let me go. My husband never came home last night. I have to find him," Rahi protested, attempting to stand once more. However, Raghav held her wrist tightly, preventing her escape. "Hold on. You have to listen to me. Look into my eyes," His deep, piercing gaze was enough to halt her restless movements. "Anant Mathur was in a serious accident. His car fell into a deep chasm, and he will never return. He's gone. Accept this and compose yourself," Raghav uttered in a deep, hoarse voice. But his words seemed to have no effect on Rahi. She remained unmoved, a faint smile appearing on her lips, leaving Raghav perplexed. "Are you joking? He's Anant Mathur, and nothing can harm him. Let me go, Raghav," she spoke casually. "I'm not joking, Rahi. Anant Mathur has died in an accident. The rescue team and the police haven't even found his car," Raghav stated sharply, glaring into her eyes, hoping she would grasp the gravity of the situation. "Now stop it. You're making me angry," Rahi responded unhappily, standing up. Yet, Raghav's grip on her wrist remained firm. She turned to face him, her anger starting to surface. "Raghav, I'll complain to Anu about this. Get serious," she threatened. Raghav stood up, his expression unwavering. "He’s dead. "No. Why do you keep saying that? Enough!" Rahi shouted. "Fine. Come with me," Raghav ordered, gripping her wrist tightly and dragging her out of the hospital. He pushed her into the passenger seat of a car and quickly got in himself. With determination, he accelerated, driving recklessly. Eventually, the car came to a halt at the scene of the accident. The day had just begun, and the area appeared hauntingly terrible in the bright daylight. The road bore scratches from the impact, and the hillside showcased the marks of truck and car collisions. The spot was sealed off. Raghav stopped the car, still gripping Rahi's wrist tightly. He forcefully pulled her out of the car and led her to the roadside where the car had plunged into the chasm. "Look at the depth of this chasm and imagine if Anant Mathur could have survived," Raghav said, his voice hoarse, as he fixed his deep eyes on Rahi. In a daze, Rahi peered down into the chasm, goosebumps rising on her body. Overwhelmed, she stumbled backward, but Raghav held her shoulders, preventing her from falling. Rahi's eyes widened in surprise, her mouth agape, as the reality she had been ignoring since yesterday finally sank in. "Wake up and look down. Anant Mathur is dead. Are you listening to me? He is dead," Raghav proclaimed loudly, desperately trying to make her understand. Rahi shook her head, unwilling to hear those words, refusing to accept the fact of his death. With tear-filled eyes, she raised her gaze to meet Raghav's deep, dark eyes. Raghav held her firmly, his grip on her shoulders tight, as he stared resolutely into her eyes. "He is dead." "No..." Rahi shook her head. "Please, don't lie. He can't die. He can't leave me alone. He loves me so much," she argued weakly, her voice quivering. Raghav narrowed his eyes. "Rahi... Try to face reality. You're standing here at the spot where he died yesterday. The rescue team has exhausted all efforts searching for your husband and his car. Can't you see what's happening? Snap out of it and understand." "No..." Raghav nodded slowly, maintaining his firm hold on her to prevent her from collapsing. "Prepare yourself. This is the truth, and you must accept it." Tears streamed down Rahi's reddened and swollen eyes, but she couldn't utter a word. She was weakened and shattered by his words, unable to come to terms with Anant Mathur's death.
