One day, while playing Aetheria, Ethan realized that Love Twist was acting differently. She was quieter, more withdrawn. He couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt.
He tried to reach out to her, to ask her what was wrong, but she just ignored him. He was confused and frustrated.
As they were battling a particularly difficult monster, Love Twist made a mistake, and they both lost their lives.
“Sorry,” Love Twist typed, her words appearing on the screen.
“It’s okay,” Ethan replied. “We’ll get them next time.”
But Love Twist didn’t respond. She logged off the game.
Ethan felt a sense of unease. Something was wrong. He knew he had to find out what.
He decided to take a break from the game and go for a walk. As he was walking, he saw Luna sitting on a bench, her head in her hands.
He approached her cautiously. “Luna, are you okay?” he asked.
Luna looked up at him, her eyes filled with tears. “Ethan, I can’t believe you rejected me.”
Ethan’s heart sank. He realized that he had been talking to Luna all along, that he had been playing with her in the game.
“Luna, I... I didn’t know it was you,” he said, his voice filled with regret. “I’m so sorry.”
