The President and His Alpha Mate

Chapter 4

After the incident with the rogues, Enrique, Barney, and Drew return to the house. Teri is sitting on the porch. Kenneth, her driver, is waiting for her. He has been waiting for almost an hour. She refuses to leave until she speaks with the President.

Enrique rubs his forehead. “That damn woman has gotten on my last damn nerve. I can't deal with her right now."

Barney and Drew know that he doesn’t have any desires for Teri. Barney motions for Drew to take the President into the house through the side door. “I’ll get rid of her.” Barney takes a deep breath thinking, “this is one desperate ass woman.”

Teri starts running in the direction that Enrique is walking. But she stops when Barney steps in front of her. “The President doesn’t want you here.”

“Step aside. Do you realize who I am?” She motions her hands at him and tries to walk around him. But only to get blocked again. “Yes, I know exactly who you are. That would be Teri Kaling. The acting First Lady. The woman that President Enrique doesn’t want. Now get your ass in that damn car. Or should I put you in there?" Barney looks at her and then at two security men staring at him. “Do either of you have a problem?”

“No, sir” the two men shook their heads in unison.

Barney grabs Teri’s hand and walks her hastily to the car. “Don’t come back here unless the President himself requests you.” He pushes her inside the car.

She slides across the seat to open the other door. But she’s stopped by another Secret Service Agent. “Ma’am, it’s time for you to leave. If not, this isn't going to turn out pretty. By that, I mean you.”

Teri folds her arms and screams as Kenneth drives off. He’s smirking and thinks, “One thing for sure, when he’s re-elected, your ass won't be here.”

Enrique is in the den thinking about the wolf attack. His mind keeps going back to the three wolves that were outnumbered. "Why would they put themselves in harm's way and go against the other wolves for my men and me.” He’s tapping the arm of the chair. “That one wolf looked at me so weirdly. As if it was concerned about me. But why?”

“Sir, I heard that you, Barney, and Drew were attacked. I should have warned you about that. But it hasn’t been any wolves attacked around here in years.” Harding is standing in the doorway.

That caught Enrique’s attention. “Come and sit with me. Tell me what you know about wolves and this area.”

Harding sits down. “I was born and raised not too far from here. I haven’t been here in a couple of years. Not since my parents and I moved to the city. Is there anything particular you want to know about wolves?”

“There was a huge ass black wolf. It was the only black one in the entire pack.” He sits up and leans closer to the man

“Ah, that would be the Alpha.” Harding nods his head

Enrique rubs his chin. “The Alpha. Why would he and his pack save us?”

“She. Huntress is her name,” Harding shook his head. He didn’t mean to say that. So he thought that he should clarify that statement up. “Word around these parts is the Alpha is a female, and her name is Huntress. That is all I know.” He stands up to leave quickly.

"That young man knows more than what he is telling me. Huntress, you are a beautiful wolf. " He chuckles. "Huntress."

Harding walks outside and sniffs the air. He smells a lot of familiar scents. “ s**t, I almost talked too damn much," he mumbles.

Grayson has been staying in a hotel close to his office at the Baron Building. He has been there for a week now. He is avoiding his mate. Alexis is pressuring him to start a family and run for President in the next election. She only wants pups because she said it would look good politically to have children in ads.

Alexis does the same thing as she always does when he doesn’t let her have her way or buy her something. That is for her to bring up Priyanka’s name. Her same old saying is if I were your precious Priya, you would do as I ask, or you wouldn’t have a problem buying it. That worked for her for the first two years. Now Grayson ignores her.

He has been in meetings most of the day and the other half of the day. He’s been ignoring her calls. Grayson has been on the phone with Congresswoman Janelle McPhee. They have been discussing the Limestone EX pipeline. As soon as he hangs up, Alexis storms into his office with security behind her.

He waves the guards away. “It’s okay. Alexis, what in the hell are you doing here? Today has been a hectic day."

She sashays over to his desk. ” I wouldn’t be here if you brought your ass home. But since I’m not your damn precious Priyanka Belafonte, you don’t believe in coming home.”

He slams the folder down on his desk, closes his eyes, and silently counts to ten. Grayson opens his eyes and looks at her. " I’m not going to entertain your bullshit today. I have more important matters to attend to. But I will say this regarding your statement about Priya. You’re right. I would. That is because she knew how to carry on a conversation and her hand wasn’t out asking for money before I walked through the damn door. Maybe you should get a job or find a hobby. Then you wouldn’t have time to think about Priya. One damn thing is for sure. She sure as hell isn't thinking about you. I have a meeting" he points to the door and makes a call.

Alexis walks out of his office. Everyone is looking at her when she slams his door. "Find something to do. Stop looking at me like I'm crazy." She yells while walking to the elevator.

Jonathan, his secretary, shook his head. "That is one crazy woman. Damn, I miss Priyanka. Hell, I'm one hundred percent sure that he misses her too."

Down the hall in Congressman Ladd Tucci’s office, meeting with Parnell. Ladd has been cooperating with Ted for years. He tried to warn them before they approached Enrique four years ago that he couldn’t be brought. Enrique is known to be a man with principles. But Parnell was so sure that he wouldn’t be a problem.

The reason for Parnell’s visit today is that Ted wants him to veto a defense bill coming up soon. He also wants an update about the gas pipeline problem. But Ladd doesn't know anything different. He only knows what was reported on the news a couple of days ago.

When Parnell is leaving Ladd's office, he bumps into Grayson. The two men say they are sorry and go on their way. Grayson is sniffing, then he looks at Parnell, thinking, "He reeking of nasty ass rogues, but he's human." He looks at the office door that the man came out of. "I should have known it was his conniving ass."

Parnell is on his phone, informing Ted about his and Ladd's conversation. He doesn't understand why Ted keeps the man around. He never knows anything unless it can benefit him with the voters.

Ted hangs the phone up, looking around at several rogue leaders he is meeting with regarding Enrique. He tells them about the incident that happened at Camp John. Some of the men want some men to attack the President again soon. Ted isn’t too thrilled about it. But agrees because he wants to see if Enrique will be protected by wolves again. Especially that female Alpha wolf. If so, he wants to know her reason for interfering in his business.

Allen volunteers that his men will be the ones attacking Enrique. His son Steve will be leading their men. Allen looks over at his son proudly. "I want you to send one hell of a message."

"Don't worry, father. I'll make sure that damn President sees things our way." Steve is a reporter for Sun Crest Newspaper. He has only met Priyanka twice. She made it clear to him to keep his distance from her. Steve always asks Megan for special assignments, but she always calls Priyanka to work on them.

The next day Vania and Callen are saying goodbye to their daughter Chloe. Chloe will be staying with her grandfather Larenz. Vania's mother, Cathy, was killed by rogues the same night Priya’s parents Armstrong and Donnelly, were.

Priyanka and Whitley are outside, discussing the last few details before she leaves. Whitley wants to know Priya’s intentions regarding mating with Enrique. She didn’t expect Priya to say “that she wasn’t sure what would happen. It depends on how things go that she is looking forward to a mate and two or three pups to run behind.”

“I hope it works out. After we kill the bastards after him, maybe it will” Whitley is looking at Vania, Callen, Beckham, and Holt getting in the car.

Some of Priya’s warriors watched Enrique until he returned to the White House. So she waited until he was on his way before she left for the city. She and Huntress didn’t want to take the chance of him being attacked by rogues again.

About four miles or so down the road, Billy Ray informs her that rogues are nearby. He believes they are planning to ambush the President.

“Let us out here,” she yells while opening the door. “Meet us there but stay out of sight,” She yells as she shifts and runs fast into the woods.

Dove, Callen's wolf Swift, and Cobalt, Beckham's wolf, run behind Huntress.

When Huntress and her warriors arrive, they see two SUVs surrounded by rogues. She runs and jumps into the air and lands on the hood of Enrique’s SUV. Huntress growls and looks back at him, then at her pack and growls as she leaps at a large grey wolf.

“Huntress,” Enrique mumbles, looking at her as she's tearing the wolf to pieces.

Barney, Drew, and Carver are looking around at the wolves fighting. Harding smirks, looking at Huntress, thinking, “She is still a badass.”

Huntress is biting a black and white wolf on his stomach. The wolf is howling and whining then he stops. She throws the wolf to the ground and looks around at her pack. Dove ran over to her, communicating through their link, “We kept one alive.”

"Tell them to take him back to the pack. I want Damian to interrogate the asshole. I don't care what he has to do to him. I want to know everything that he knows." Huntress tells her through their link. She's looking at her packs and growls.

Her pack is walking back into the woods.

Enrique hasn't taken his eyes off her as he steps out of the SUV. He's looking at her, walking behind her pack, and yells, "Huntress,"

She turns to look at him, surprised that he knew her name.

"Thank you." He yells

Huntress nods her head at him and looks at him for a few minutes before she runs into the woods behind her pack.

Now all the men are standing beside him.

"What do we do about the dead wolves?" Carver kicks one of the dead wolves in the head.

"Nothing. They are waiting for us to leave so they can clean the remains up." Harding motions for the men to get back in the car. He turns to walk back to the SUV.

Enrique stops him. "Why is Huntress protecting me? I'm sure you know." He's looking at Harding with narrowed eyes.

"No sir, I don't know" Harding shook his head and opened the door for the President thinking, "I take it that you're her mate."

Enrique is looking in the direction that Huntress walks in.

Huntress is looking at him in the woods, not too far away.
