21 “Miriam!” My eyes flew open and all my instincts told me to swim. There was nothing to paddle through for my arms, but my feet kicked off the cheap commercial carpet and pushed my chair forward. One of my paddling hands got caught between the chair and the desk in front of me, and pain shot up my arm as the fingers were pinched by my weight.
