7 “All hands on deck!” The loud voice jerked me awake. I stretched out my hand to sit up, but my palm slipped on the side of the captain’s bed and half my body followed suit. I dragged the covers down onto the floor with me so that in a second I was tangled on the floorboards. Being so close to the unbending beams of the ship, I could feel the harsh rocking as swells shoved the ship from side-to-side. The door to the cabin flung open. I looked up and breathed a sigh of relief when I saw it was Darda. “I thought you were a pirate,” I told her as I tried to unravel myself from the sheets.
