“How am I supposed to go to work when I feel this anxious every time?!” I cried out as my eyes scanned left and right cautiously looking for a specific person that I did not, under any circumstances, want to bump into.
The weekend passed in the blink of an eye, unfortunately for me. Maybe it was because I had been so busy catching up with my side jobs that I hadn’t really noticed that time flew. Bills were so exhausting, but thinking about getting my first pay this week motivated me endlessly.
If only I didn’t have to work and hide at the same time then this wouldn’t feel so much more tedious, but I had given myself that problem on the very night I had decided to sleep with a man as handsome as Mr. Ares. I should have known someone that looked like that was more than just a normal handsome person.
He was the devil in disguise, basically.
And maybe I did know, and I just ignored it because my hormones were already raging too much.
To make things worse, I slept with him again, but over the past two days away from the office pressure, I did come to realize that Ares Callisto was truly nothing but a very good-looking prick. But nonetheless, still a prick.
And it was exactly that thought that made me feel less attached to my boss compared to the days before.
Only about three weeks of hiding then I’m sure he won’t be able to remember the girl he slept with in that club. Maybe it wouldn’t even have to be three weeks. If he had slept with an employee that easily, then he could have easily slept with another girl during the weekend.
That was highly likely, seeing how much of a hormonal beast he was, but at the same time, I was keeping my timeline of hiding from him for my own peace of mind.
Three weeks, give or take. That’s all I need and after that, I would just have to focus on work and paying my bills and debts before they consume me whole.
When the elevator door opened to the top floor, Elliot was standing rather dashingly by the reception desk.
I say dashingly because he was not wearing his usual outfit of plain clothes, but instead, was replaced with a very dapper-looking suit and tie. If I didn’t know better, I would have thought he was a high-ranking manager around here, but I did know that Elliot disliked such big titles. Too much drama and unnecessary responsibilities, he claims.
“Lily!” He beamed when he saw me. “I’ve been calling you all weekend. How could you have abandoned me?!”
I looked at him with furrowed brows. “I didn’t get any calls. In fact, my phone has been completely silent this whole time. Are you sure?” I asked while I fiddled around my bag in search of said silent phone.
“Yes, I’m sure! I wanted to tell you about… someone.” Elliot’s distinct voice-change when he said ‘someone’ amused me and I looked up at him curiously.
“Someone? Who is she and when did you meet her?!” I asked, eager to know all the details because the last time I saw him, he could barely keep up with the amount of alcohol he drank all while lying about forgetting his runaway bride.
“The thing is…” He paused as he bit his lip and something about the way he was looking at me made me feel nervous about who the person was.
“Oh just check your phone! I left you a ton of voicemails explaining everything!” Elliot exclaimed with a pout and I couldn’t help but find it cute.
He had his own charms, and if he didn’t seem like a very close guy best friend to me, I would totally date him. He was nice and sweet and I’m sure that the special someone he met was extremely lucky.
If only I could find my freaking phone so I would know who it was.
“I could have sworn I left it here during the party last Friday…” I mumbled while practically emptying the entire contents of my bag onto my desk.
The more time passed and there was still no sight of my phone, I became more and more nervous that I had lost it.
Great. First week with the phone and I lost it already. I’m a mess.
“Oh, shit.” I blurted out when the realization hit me, my eyes widening as it moved to look at the right where the path led to…
“Oh s**t what? What is it?” Elliot asked as he looked at me baffled. “You’re making it really difficult for me not to just spill the name!” He complained, but my mind was already elsewhere.
My heart started racing inside my chest as my eyes stayed glued to the same place.
Oh my god. I think I left my phone in his office.
“Fine, I’ll tell you. It’s Charlotte, your friend!” Elliot then confessed, completely taking me out of my own thoughts when my best friend’s name was mentioned.
My head quickly shifted to him. “I’m sorry, did you just say Charlotte? Charlotte Cohen, my best friend since college?”
Elliot blushed a little before nodding his head.
“What?! Wh– when?! At the party?!” So many questions yet so little answers, and before I could even get them, the moss monster arrived in the most unpleasant way possible.
A stack of papers were dropped on my desk with a loud thud. “Input this by today, no more and no less.”
“Isn’t there a soft copy?” I asked because no way in hell can I type at least five hundred or more pages on the laptop by today.
Ms. Greene shook her head exaggeratedly, her long silver hair that had been gelled at the top to stay in place shifted left and right with her movement. “Get it done, Lilibeth.” And then off she went to the path leading to Mr. Ares’ office, likely to try and flirt with him again.
I wonder if Mr. Ares has had s*x with her that she was completely smitten by him. I can only imagine just how good he must have made her feel that she’s attached to his hip.
Then again, was he that desperate to sleep with any woman, even the moss monster herself?
I shrugged the thought away.
“Happy Monday to me,” I groaned while turning on my work computer.
Elliot placed his hand on my shoulder in a reassuring manner. “I can help you do the other half. I don’t have much to do as of now, anyway. Mr. Ares has been oddly quiet since the day started.”
The mention of his name made me remember the reason for my panic earlier; my phone. f**k! I need to get that back no matter what! My freaking name was on it and the second he finds it in his office where he last f****d a woman, he would be able to put two and two together.
“Would you really, El?” I looked at him with a thankful pout.
“Yeah,” he said before taking the other half of the stack of papers. “Besides, I need extra brownie points with your best friend.” He giggled and before I could comment on it, he didn’t let me as he put his earphones on.
I sighed. Best friend shenanigans later, saving my job first.
Then again, how in the world was I going to do that? How was I supposed to go inside the Lion’s den without being noticed and eaten alive?
As if by cue, I heard the faint voice of Ms. Greene blabbing on and on about something getting louder and seconds later, I spotted the Lion himself walking out. He seemed to be invested in something, his eyes not wandering anywhere but straight towards the elevator and then he was gone.
And that was my sign to go. Yes! I almost internally leapt in joy.
I looked over to Elliot and he seemed to be too preoccupied with his music and work to even notice me looking at him. Over to the other side, Daisy was also too busy talking to her plants to even bother. This was the perfect opportunity.
I slipped away from them in seconds and not a minute later, I was inside the Lion’s den.
A shiver traveled across my body when I stepped in, the room feeling much colder than before. Now that I was no longer distracted by my boss and his, you know, c**k, I could now see his office much better.
There was no doubt that it was designed as if you were truly in Olympus. I could only imagine Greek gods and goddesses lived in places like these, lavished in white and gold, a chandelier on the ceiling where there was an artistic mural seemingly hand-painted on it, and marbled flooring that seemed to be completely spotless.
Or at least, it once was.
I bit my lip as my eyes landed on where I vividly remember his release had gone a few nights ago, but now there was nothing on it, as expected. But thinking about my position there and the screams that were made in this very room still turned me on.
Fuck. Stop it, Lily! Focus! Find your phone!
I quickly shook my head and started to look around every nook and cranny. It has to be here somewhere. If not, then I don’t know what else to do. I would just have to accept the fact that I lost it somewhere and may or may not lose my job in a few days time.
“My phone!” I said a little too loudly when I kneeled under his long desk and found the phone that was obviously mine underneath it.
The relief that shot through my body was so strong it felt like a ton of weight had been lifted off of my chest. Not only that, but finding it under his desk meant Mr. Ares had not seen it so I was safe.
I was safe.
Overflowing with happiness, I was getting ready to step out of his office before anything else could happen, but the universe looked like it wanted to have more fun with me because the next thing I knew, his door was opening wide.
Shit. I have to hide!
I went running back under his desk and praying to the gods that he wouldn’t look down there.
“You shouldn’t have told your father about the All Ways dilemma. I told you I was handling it,” Mr. Ares’ voice echoed in his office – deep and stern, I felt my hairs stand up all over my body.
“I’m really sorry, Ares. I just wanted to help.” A woman’s voice spoke up and I sensed the familiarity of her voice.
It was Ms. Greene, and she had dropped honorifics on Mr. Ares, calling him by his first name only. Interesting.
My eyes widened in panic as Mr. Ares continued to step closer and closer to his desk. I had to place my hands over my mouth in fear of letting out the tiniest sound.
Thank goodness the middle of his desk was covered halfway and unless someone really looked down, they would not be able to see me. Or I was hoping that was the case.
“Ms. Greene,” he spoke up again and I hadn’t noticed he was already in front of his desk until his deep voice vibrated profoundly and I gulped nervously.
Holy s**t, he was so near.
“When I want your help, I will ask for it. In the meantime, I would appreciate it if you don’t do anything on my behalf.”
I couldn’t see his face, but I was sure by the tone of his voice that he was trying his very best not to show how pissed off he was. If not in my current situation right now, I would be enjoying this so much more because Ms. Greene was getting a taste of her own medicine.
“Duly noted,” Ms. Greene responded and I heard her heels click on the floor as she walked closer to him to his desk.
When she was standing right in front of it, I caught a glimpse of her body leaned forward and she was likely trying to get closer to him.
“Do you want me to make it up to you… Ares?” Her voice had become softer, that same purring tone I remembered she had used on him was evident.
I had to stop myself from puking at her flirtiness. Gross.
Don’t tell me I’m going to have to suffer through being here while they f**k each other’s brains out. You have got to be kidding me. What kind of terrible luck?
Fortunately, it turns out my luck wasn’t that terrible after all because Mr. Ares was quick to decline her proposition.
“I want you to tell your father to let me handle this,” he said coldly and I could sense Mr. Greene’s defeat as she stepped back from his desk.
She cleared her throat before nodding in agreement. While she was walking out of the office, she stopped when Mr. Ares called out for her.
“And Ms. Greene,” he exclaimed and she immediately turned around, a flicker of hope in her eyes.
Did he give in to her tempting advances? Was that how easily someone could flirt with you, Ares Callisto? Maybe he wasn’t as special as I thought he was after all.
“Don’t forget that when you’re working and during office hours, I am still your boss. Make sure to call me Mr. Ares and not just my first name. Now you can go.”
Oh, s**t. Spoke too soon.
I saw the way Ms. Greene’s face burned in embarrassment before quickly turning around and rushing out of his office.
It might be evil, but man did it feel good seeing her look so embarrassed. I will atone for my sins later on, but right now, I will enjoy myself as I watched the moss monster make a fool out of herself.
I had almost forgotten I was still literally hiding underneath my boss’ desk until I heard Mr. Ares groaned and once again, my hairs stood up, but not from fear, but from how turned on I was at the sound.
Goodness gracious, how the hell does he always sound so f*****g hot? This was unfair.
Out of nowhere, he had stepped back at the front of his desk where my vision was much better and he began. to. unbutton. his. shirt.
My mouth dropped open, almost drooling on his floor. Holy s**t.
Like getting the best seat in the house, that’s what it felt like as I watched Mr. Ares bare his chest in front of me. Okay, technically he didn’t know I was there, but he really was baring it all.
I’m talking smooth tanned skin, sculpted to perfection pecs, and the tightest six-pack a woman could ever see in her life. It didn’t even compare to models whose jobs were quite literally, being hot and naked.
I felt my heart start beating faster again and my panties getting wet. Damn it, now was literally not the right time, but my body couldn’t control itself when Mr. Ares was doing a full show.
All of a sudden, his phone rang.
“Okay, I’ll be there in ten minutes,” is all he said before dashing out of his office with a new shirt and leaving my horny self under his desk.
When I came into the Lion’s den, I was not expecting to come out wet. But at least, I came out in one piece.
After that, I rushed to the comfort room, in need of a moment to recompose myself.
For a split second when the door opened and someone I was not expecting to see appeared right in front of me, I thought I was hallucinating, the adrenaline rush from being stuck under my boss’ desk still in effect.
“Lily!” But when my best friend called out for me, I was quickly brought back to the present and the reality that she was very much real and right there.
“Charlotte? Um, am I tripping right now? What are you doing in our office comfort room?” I asked as I glanced towards the stalls to see if anyone was there that could record incriminating evidence against us.
Luckily, we were the only ones there.
“I’m not here illegally!” She quickly explained, which was a relief, but it still didn’t make sense.
Was she here because of Elliot? He did look quite charmed by my best friend so would he have sneakily let her in? Oh my god, if I don’t lose my job from successfully hiding my identity from my boss, it would be because my best friend sneaked into my office.
“Our magazine was called out of nowhere by Olympus and we have a presentation.”
Oh, phew. That makes so much more sense then. So why did she look so… agitated?
“I need your help,” she added and I knew instantly that’s why.
I looked at her with a raised brow, signaling for her to continue.
“You know I love you heaps and we promised to do everything for each other no matter what so Ireallyneedyoutopresenttoyourboss!” Charlotte rushed her last few words that it took me a few seconds to process it, but when it did, my face contorted to the most unpaintable expression of disapproval someone could make.
“No way! Noooo freaking way! You’re kidding, right? I told you I’m hiding from him for at least a month! You can’t do this to me, Charlie!” I protested and was shaking my head repeatedly, bound to my answer because there was no way in hell I could present to him without him realizing who I was.
I would literally be in front of him, talking for an hour or so. He would know who I was the second I entered that room and then it would be game over.
“Why do you need me to present, anyway? It’s your magazine!”
Charlotte bit her lip before pouting and then brushed her bangs to the side, revealing a zit that was not there when I saw her for brunch.
“Remember that guy I told you about during brunch and I couldn’t stop gushing about him?” Charlotte mentioned and suddenly, the dots began to connect.
“Elliot, my coworker. I know, he told me. Wait, wait a second…” I took a sharp inhale before continuing. “You don’t want to present because you don’t want Elliot to see you with a zit? Are you serious, Charlie? You’re putting my job on the line for a zit?! I’m out of here.” I told her how ridiculous her plan was, but just before stepping out of the comfort room, I paused as she blurted it out.
“You promised! You said you owe me one and it’s this one! Lily, you’re the only one that knows the magazine as much as I do. You’re my only hope!” My best friend cried out and at that point, I was deliberately cursing myself and how I ended up in this mess.
Damn that one night. Damn that insanely good c**k of his.
And damn that that c**k being the best I ever had was owned by no one other than my boss.
I let out a defeated sigh before turning back around to face my desperate best friend.
God, I’m going to need a shot before I do this presentation.

Ares Callisto had a rather productive weekend, all thanks to a certain phone he most certainly did not own.
He hadn’t thought of what fun he was going to do with Lily when he found it in his office, but it was somewhere along the lines of tormenting her about losing her phone somewhere and then realizing it could possibly be in his office.
All of a sudden, hordes of voicemails from Elliot started coming in and this became his entertainment throughout the weekend.
“Lily, please don’t kill me when I tell you this but I think I’m in love with your best friend, Charlotte Cohen.”
“It’s not what you think! I wasn’t planning on falling in love with her or anything, but on the way home rather drunkenly last night I bumped into her and it was like angels started singing as the gates of heaven opened up. She’s perfect.”
“Lily, why have you been holding out on me?! We’re going out tomorrow apparently after your brunch. Please don’t kill me!”
“Lilith Sinclair, where are you? Reply to me! I’m freaking out!”
There were about fifty more messages of pretty much the same context, but Ares need not take another second as a plan had already built up in his mind.
It was both clever and reckless, just as he was. Sometimes.
It only took Ares a few minutes to find the woman Elliot seemed to have fallen in love with and when he gathered enough information about her – graduated from the same college as Lily and became editor of Homes and Gardens just recently, he knew what he had to do.
And it was only because he was Ares Callisto, CEO of Olympus, a very influential company, that he had the means to do it.
“Mr. Callisto? H-how may I help you?” A surprised voice was heard on the other side of the phone.
It’s not everyday that someone like him would be calling out of nowhere so it made sense that Ms. Marianne, the staff head of the company that owned Homes and Gardens, was utterly shocked and unsure of the reason for the call.
“Ms. Marianne, I apologize for the sudden call and I hope I am not interrupting anything.”
“No, not at all, Mr. Callisto! I– uh, I appreciate the call. Whatever it is, I am happy to help.” Ms. Marianne quickly reassured him.
He smiled, knowing that this plan was already going well.
“I’m glad to hear that. Are you free to meet today? Lunch, perhaps? My treat. I have a proposition that I believe you’re the best person to meet with for.”
Ares heard a hiccup on the other side. Ms. Marianne could not believe what she was hearing. She had only met him briefly, glimpses that only lasted a mere second at that, but now to meet with him for lunch? She thought she was dreaming, but there was no way she would pass up a chance to sit and talk with such a knowledgeable man. It would be more than an honor.
“Of course, Mr. Callisto. I will be there.”
When the call ended, Ares couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement brewing in him as he began to imagine the look on Lily’s face once she sees her best friend in their office out of nowhere and for a presentation, nonetheless.
He licked his lips and bit it in amusement.
“How will you hide from me this time, Sinclair?”
