AUTHOR’S POV Gigi stirred in Cian's arms, blinking her eyes as she gradually awoke. She hadn’t realized she had fallen asleep. Cian softly whispered, “Hey,” pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead, and she sat up, her nose congested from all the crying she had done earlier, her voice raspy as she asked, “What time is it?” Cian glanced at the clock. "It is 11:30 p.m," he said but did not finish because Gigi screamed, clutching her stomach as a searing pain slashed through her-Charis's bond, severed. Her eyes widened in terror as she muttered her brother's name and Cian's eyes widened in horror. "No, it cannot be!"
