AUTHOR’S POV Charis moved closer to Zoraya, his lips moving, but his words were nothing more than a faint hum. Zoraya barely noticed him as the room began spinning and tilting on its axis, as if the walls were closing in on her. Her breath caught, and her body responded instinctively, recoiling away from him. She leaped out of bed, dragging the sheets with her in a desperate attempt to cover herself, and stumbled toward the bathroom, where her knees hit the cold tile as her stomach lurched violently. She gripped the sides of the toilet bowl, her knuckles white, as the contents of her stomach poured out, splattering on the porcelain.
