Ophelia carefully set down the mug of steaming hot black coffee on the table in front of Fidel. He thanked her, and placed his palms on both sides of the mug, his eyes watching her with a mixture of interest and mild curiosity. Ophelia shuffled back to her seat, and grabbed the novel she had been pretending to read for the past few minutes to avoid any conversation before he asked for coffee. She felt it wasn't hospitable to leave guest alone. And for that reason –and that reason alone, she assured herself. For that reason, she stayed in the sitting room. The doctor had told them to leave him to his work, and Andrea lay on a nearby couch, groaning and complaining about the game she was playing on her phone every two minutes.
