ALICE POV
As I slowed down, coming to a stop in a small clearing, I heard a loud and menacing growl behind me. My heart skipped a beat, and I froze, the sound sending a shiver down my spine. I turned slowly, my breath catching in my throat.
The source of the growl stepped into view, a large wolf with red eyes that glinted with a dangerous light. This was no ordinary wolf. Its size was monstrous, easily three times that of a normal wolf. Its fur was jet black, blending seamlessly into the shadows of the forest, making those red eyes all the more startling.
