I stood outside Alice's dorm, my heart pounding in anticipation. The sunset painted the sky in hues of pink and orange, casting a warm glow over the campus. I checked my watch for the fifth time in the past minute. She should be coming out any moment now, and I couldn't wait to see her reaction to the evening I had planned.
When the door finally opened and Alice stepped out, my breath caught in my throat.
