Chapter 11

1232 Words
(Luciana POV) I think I am sick. I groaned as I sat up from my bed. "Your majesty has a temperature." Melissa frowned. "Great." I groaned rubbing my aching head. I had to get sick when I have a lot of work. With the banquet coming, preparation for the rest of the documents for the pack alliance, and my pending works, I can't afford a cold. "Give me the medicine." I said but Melissa didn't move. I looked up to see her watch me with a worried face. "I think your majesty should rest a bit more. You didn't sleep since the attack." I groaned standing up. "I am fine." I grunted but stop grabbing hold of the headrest when I felt dizzy. "Your majesty!" she came running to me but I held my hand up. "I will call the doctor," she said as I shook my head. "I am fine, Melissa. Just give me my breakfast and medicine." Melissa seemed hesitant but she still obeyed my order. While I bathed, she made the chef make me some hot soup and garlic bread. I felt a bit better after eating. "You still look tired." Melissa pouted making me let out a chuckle. "Well there is nothing we can do about it." I looked at the mirror one more time. I decided to wear a warmer color dress. A bright dress will make my sick face pop out. Although my skin looked less pale from makeup, my eyes looked dead. Then again makeup can do only so much. "I heard Sir William is on leave?" I asked as she nodded. "Yes. My eldest child is having his first sword selection and he wanted his father to accompany him." she said as I smiled and nodded. "He is already 8? I remember holding him in my hands" an involuntary smile made its way to my face. "Yes. Time flies fast. But he still wants you to be his bride." she said laughing. "He is adorable. I should visit him some time." "Thank you, your highness." With that, we decided to go to my office. But I was surprised when I saw someone standing outside my bedroom door. "Nero?" I called shocked as he bowed in respect. "Your Majesty." he said before looking at me from top to bottom. "You look ugly today." my so-called mate said as I rolled my eyes. Yea, right. Respect my ass. "Thank you for stating out the obvious, Alpha Nero." I replied before starting to make way to my office. He shrugs and walked behind me surprisingly quiet. After our fight, William reported how he walked around the marketplace, brought all street food, and ate it alone near the forest pond. Who would have thought the great bad alpha boy has such a cute side when he is angry? When he returned back to the palace it was very late. I did tell Sir William to make Nero my today's substitute but I thought he would act arrogant and I will have to go force him to get ready. "You need to do all these today?" was the first thing he said as I summoned my today's schedule and gave it to him. "Yes." I said as I opened my file got to work. "Tea party at 3? Dress fitting at 11, Shoes fitting at 12? Shoes fitting? Why do you have to follow such a schedule for shopping?" he looked at the list with a tiring groan. "Even my head hurts seeing this." "My schedule is filled so I need to make sure I prepared for it." I mumbled trying to concentrate. "Every single time?" "Yes and no. It depends on the situation. We have a banquet coming in 2 days to celebrate your pack's welcoming and that makes it extra busy for me." My headache was already getting worse but it is increasing 10 fold with Nero's nagging. I put my pen down and looked at him. I can't concentrate. "Alpha Nero." I called as he looked up from the list with a raised eyebrow. "Would you help me?" He looked at me with a weird expression but I was shocked that he accepted it so fast. "What is it?" "Oh umx..." I stared surprised before looking at the table. "Well um... How about start helping with arranging this in order of the dates I received?" Even though he let out an exaggerated groan he obeyed my order and started to help me. "You don't look so good." He suddenly commented, halfway into his arranging. "Ahh I just have a small headache." I lied. I was pretty sure I was on the verge of collapsing. My head was aching badly and I feel the need to vomit. But I stiffed as I suddenly felt a warm hand on my forehead. My eyes widen but I didn't move. "You don't have a fever." he said before putting his other hand on his forehead. "Maybe it's because you overworked." He fell on the chair he is sitting in and crossed his arms. He closed his hands and gave a nod before opening one eye and looking at me. I just stared at him flustered. His actions left me in shock and I felt my heart skip a beat. "You look redder now. Red and flushed. Did you suddenly feel sicker?" he grinned making me glare at him. I am sure he did that on purpose. He looked satisfied at what he did to me. I, on the other hand, want to strangle him. "I don't have time for this. I have too much work" I grumbled and tried to concentrate on my work. I could imagine the smug look of victory on his face but I decided to ignore it. Half an hour later, Melissa came to give me some hot chocolate. This is why I love her. She exactly knew what I need. After work, it was time for my fitting. Usually, William will remind me about my scheduled time, but I knew the sleeping Nero won't. I walked up to my mate, who was sound asleep on the couch. "You look so peaceful when you sleep." I mumbled as I put my hand on his cheek. I could feel the sparks from her contact and it was oddly making my fatigue go away. My eyes went on his hair. His hair looks rough but I was surprised at how soft it was when I touched it last time. "What are you doing?" a voice came making me freeze. I quickly took my hand away embarrassed of being caught in such a moment. "You're awake!" I said before standing up. "I am a light sleeper, Your Majesty." He said staring at me. "Ahh, I see... Umm so..." I scratched the back of my head feeling the heat on my face. "I was just calling to tell you I have to go for the fitting." I said, cursing myself for my voice c***k. "Ok." he said standing up. I hate how little he looked affected. Don't both sides get flustered at moments like this? At least that is what they do in romance books! "Let's just go." I sighed rubbing my aching head. Right now I could really feel the whole of my body is burning up. I should tell Melissa to ask for a stronger dose of medicine.
