Orange

I was still inside the small room in the basement, but I didn't care; Caleb hadn't even said anything to me, not for two weeks after I rejected him, making me sleepless if it wasn't for the fact that Delta Vivian was driving me just as hard as anyone else in this house. She was a witch. “Luna Emilia.” Delta Vivian opened the door on the dot when I was already standing ready and waiting for her, hair neatly tucked into the knot. My hands clasped over the grey Delta suit, not wanting to show her that I didn't sleep that night either; her stern face had a slight moment of worry that I didn't care about. Did she care for me? I didn't believe that. Nobody in this pack did, and they punished those who didn't follow them blindly! She nodded, making me follow when she walked out into the hallway, following the steps down to the archive where she suddenly stopped, hearing someone arguing in the distance, giving me a scold to stay put; she didn't even need to tell me, there wasn't anywhere I could go. my mate ignoring me, and challenging the head.... my eyes burned again, blinking fast, not wanting to cry, there was enough gossip about me, the weak Delta that mated Alpha Caleb. My eyes were drawn to an open door, making me lean forward. I knew that Delta Vivian would scold me if I moved, but at this point, what did it matter? After my little stunt at the silver sentence, I was isolated from other Deltas. It was like the head had decided to keep me in the grasp of his most loyal pack member. I couldn't believe it; Kyle was standing in front of me, leaning against the wall and giving me a grin, like he hadn't been burned alive before my eyes by my mate who had cut me off like the cold bastard he was, couldn't even protect me against his father! “Kyle!” I said his name a little too loud, as something just shattered. He was okay, thank goodness! I went into the hallway and closed the door quickly. Before he protested, I threw myself at him and hugged him hard, feeling his strong arms wrapped around me, hugging me back. “Hotshots, relax my ribs…” Kyle chuckled when I let go of his waist and looked at him anxiously. Did he feel alright? What just happened? I fluttered my eyes as he laughed and took a step back from me, making me feel bad. He didn't want me closer since Caleb would punish him, just like he did after the dance, and we didn't do anything! “I'm sorry…” I sighed and stepped back; I was so happy he was safe and alive. “Are you okay?! I was so worried about you! You looked dead when they dragged you out!” I spat out the words as he calmly looked at me as if he was okay with what had happened, as if he hadn’t just barely survived it! "Yeah, look at me. I'm still fine as hell... and listen hotshots... it takes more than silver to take this boy down..." I snorted, hearing his stupid, chill voice, which made me feel somewhat better; at least they didn't break his spirit, unlike mine. I sighed, closing my eyes, not wanting this heavy feeling with Caleb being so stupid and challenging Alpha Terrence. "Nice dress..." I hated his smug face, grinning when I still was upset, wanting nothing more than to break down and cry, “I'm so sorry....” I said pleadingly; I could not bear to be strong, not right now, not when he stood there and looked like he did not care that he almost died when his eyes said something else. “Stop it, Luna!” Kyle barked like Caleb would have, making me cry even harder. Why was everyone so awful at each other in this mansion? “I can’t! I saw you! I saw everything: how Caleb put that chain over your neck and how you screamed and…”I was still sobbing, his hands wrapping around my arms, giving me a stern look, sparks of orange flying all over his blue eyes. “Listen now, Luna! Get it together!” His voice was determined, tugging at me, calling for me to obey… I looked at him in surprise. He did not sound like a Beta now… Kyle gave me a sigh, letting my arms go like he didn't want me staring at him like he was crazy; that was a freaking Alpha voice he just had used! “Kyle… why did you sound just like an Alpha?” I said it straight out: No more secrets. He knew mine, so why did he not want to tell me what he had for some? “I have probably learned to imitate Caleb after all the times he yelled at me.” He chuckled when I shook my head. No… it was nothing you could learn. I knew it all too well. It was in your blood, how it commanded over others. I had felt it after all the times Caleb had scolded me. Kyle stopped laughing and looked at me with a broad smile as if he thought what I had noticed was funny without even thinking about it. “You are too smart for your own good. Do you know Emilia?” His voice was lower when I looked at him, confused. I wasn't smart anywhere if you believed my mother... "...I think you are the first to ever blow my secret... Do you think I would heal this quick from silver as a Beta... please..." he snorted again, dressed in just a tank top, flexing his arms. He didn't know why, but he was right; he wouldn't have healed this fast. I know from seeing how fast Caleb healed! "Yeah... it's all an act, baby girl, just so that the head and your mate don't crap their pants for having another Alpha in their territory..." Kyle grinned more to my gasp; they could kill him! I started to understand why he was keeping a low profile towards his real wolf... but still... wow... "That's right..." Kyle moved his hand, showing his head exploding to my giggle, standing before him, arms crossed. So he could hear me? I stared at him with my big eyes running over his leaning posture. He really was an Alpha. He was longer than a Beta male, more muscular, and had the attractive features of an Alpha; no wonder every female out there wanted him; he had just as much raw power as my mate! “Stop it, hotshots. You're making me blush...” Kyle snorted, still chuckling when I did not know what to think anymore. Why? Why was he an Alpha who pretended to be a Beta? That didn't make any sense?! “It's my secret for now, and I hope you can keep it…” Kyle dropped his grin, giving me an intense look. The orange sparkled in his baby blue eyes; he didn't want me to rat him out, not a second time... “You never rat me out, Emilia...” He smiled suddenly, and I was glad he felt that way, but everything was my fault; I was the one that had shifted. “Not even to Caleb.” He looked at me more seriously now that I was surprised at him. He did not know!? How could Caleb have missed something so obvious for so many years!? I didn't know what to think; it seemed impossible! “He probably never listened.” Kyle grinned again when I sighed. Yes, I believed that part, giving the blond a big smile, happy that someone else knew what it felt like being around the mighty Alpha Caleb....now I just had one problem: there was no way I could be able to keep this secret once I was back into the upper floors again, He was going to hear me, my thoughts, my words, my feelings... I gave Kyle a sorry look; I couldn't see this ending without blowing his cover. “Simple, just don’t think of me...” he said as if it were easy to turn everything off and not think about him after he said such a thing. “I know it's hard, I mean, look at me? how can anyone forget me?” Kyle sounded cocky again as I snorted and rolled my eyes; I did not see him like that, not after Caleb; no male would ever be enough for me. The mate bond made me love him more than anyone. "The bond..." Kyle made half a smile, shrugged, and looked like he didn't get it when I sighed. Trust me, he didn't. “Okay, hotshots. I trust you will keep this to yourself.” Kyle nodded when I did one back; don't tell everyone that the first Beta of the Golden Moon was faking his whole rank. Got it. “Go now, Luna, before Delta Vivian isn't distracted...” Kyle snorted like he knew what the old wolf could do, and I nodded. I was glad he was okay; I just hoped that whatever he kept wouldn't affect Caleb; that was my only fear. “Don’t worry about it, Luna... I intend to stay in line… for now…” Kyle smirked back, amused when I opened the door, stepped out, and looked at him one last time, leaning against the wall. His blue eyes were orange, his wolf pulling out mine when I smiled big before dodging back out. He was something else, that's for sure. “Luna Emilia.” Delta Vivian appeared out of nowhere, making me panic; closing the door fast to my heart, slamming as loud as the big oak door; this was bad! "Delta Vivian..." I was out of breath when she frowned at my suspicious behavior before deciding she wouldn't ask, never did. I glanced back at the door, praying to the goddess that she wouldn't hear me. Whatever was going on with Kyle, I would keep his secret. "Always daydreaming... useless girl..." I didn't snarl at Delta Vivian, who was muttering under her breath and already walking ahead. I smiled back towards the door, knowing Kyle was on the other side. I had an ally.
