Lucas
It has been two years since Delilah left the country. According to dad, she needs to learn a few things in order to be ready to fight the Grey's. I refuse to acknowledge them as her family; they all deserve what was coming to them, everyone of them including Mr. Grey himself. That old man did not fight for his daughter; he just accepted her death to be suicide without investigating the case, probably because he wanted to protect their family name but that act alone made him evil in my eyes. Even if Delilah decides to let him go, I will hunt him down myself, he also deserves to pay.
I stood at the terminal waiting for Delilah to show her face. She is coming back to the country today and here I am waiting to take her home. I saw her even before she saw me, everything about her is so different. Starting from her steps, the way she walks to the aura that surrounds her, her fashion sense seems to have been taken care of too. I waved at her with the 'welcome home Delilah' inscription on the A4 paper that I was holding.
She smiled at me as she walked towards me graciously "hello wanker"
Squeezing my face, I pinched her cheeks "I've pleaded with you for the past two years to stop calling me that"
She let out a small laugh "stop calling you what? Wanker?"
"Jeez Delilah!! Stop calling me that"
"Okay wanker. How is Dad? I've missed him so much"
Taking her luggage from her, I handed it over to one of the guys assigned for security "he's at home waiting for you. I must say, I am a little jealous. You saw me first, instead of showering me with words like how are you? Or I miss you, instead what I receive is you calling me wanker".
Opening the door, she entered the car even before Klaus could help her with it. I guess some old habit can never be changed. Beneath this tough girl is the kind and humble Clara. "When you grow old Lucas, I'll miss you just as I miss dad".
"I told you not to put my name and old in the same sentence Delilah".
She simply shrugged, she opened her purse and brought out a chocolate bar, she offered me one which I refused. "Am watching my sugar intake thank you very much"
She gave me an unladylike snort "which poor girl are you trying to impress Lucas?"
Am a little bothered about something so I decided to voice my thought "Delilah, all these chocolates, smiles, carefree behavior and definitely this unladylike snort should not be seen or heard by an outsider".
She looked at me straight in the eyes "I know Lucas, I dedicated two years of my life to that. There is absolutely no reason for you to remind me that in the presence of the driver and security man".
I brought out my phone, scrolling through the news feed, I stated the obvious "the divider is activated so there is no way they can hear us". I scrolled down the more and a particular headline made me stop "I think New York is ready to welcome you".
She snatched the phone from me "they didn't miss out on the illegitimate part of the story. Can you imagine Lucas. 'THE ILLEGITIMATE DAUGHTER OF PETER DAVIDSON, DELILAH DAVIDSON SPOTTED IN THE BIG CITY OF NEW YORK".
I let out a light laughter "why is that offending you my lady. They are only saying what we told them. We are the one that called you illegitimate, so they followed suit".
She slapped the phone to my chest "they couldn't even get a clear and beautiful picture of me. Do they know how long I spent on my makeup?"
Is she serious "believe me dear, they don't care".
She stared out the window just as entered the Davidson's property. "I've missed home. Believe me Lucas I've missed this city despite all wrongs"
Immediately our car stopped, she stepped down and ran into the out stretched hands of my father. They exchanged few words which I wasn't able to hear due to the distance between us.
My father looked over at me "did you guys have any problem with the paparazzi and press at the airport?"
I shrugged "no much trouble, the men were there to check them off".
My father who seemed happy with my response told us to go refresh and come down for dinner. I walked into my room and took my time to shower, I know that immediately I walk down to that table, my father is going to discuss nothing else but business. I love my father, but most times I hate how obsessed he is with work and power.
After what seemed like forever, I walked into the dining room to find not just Delilah but my father and that woman who I've grown to hate over the years. Don't worry am not taking about my mother, I lost her over six years ago. Am talking about Mrs. Claire, she controls everything social media for my dad and she also has control over what is published in the newspaper. She is one of those fueling my father's love for power.
"Hey wanker!! You decided to join us?"
"Stop calling me that Delilah".
My father cleared his throat "we have a guest, behave yourselves". He turned to Delilah "this is Claire Benson, she will be handling the press release tomorrow".
Delilah turned to Mrs. Claire, her eyes sharp and calculating, trying to study the woman before her. I guess that's what happens when your family betray you.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Mrs. Benson"
Mrs. Benson smiled "the pleasure is all mine".
"Tomorrow I will introduce you to the Grey's. I have a business deal going on with them, so I want you to represent me over there and from there, you know what to do. Lucas will be going with us tomorrow, the more Davidson in the room, the better for you".
She nodded "yes father".
I could see that she wasn't comfortable discussing this in front of Mrs. Claire, so I decided to intervene "Delilah, come on, let's go through the contract with the Grey's so that it will be easier for you to flow in tomorrow's meeting".
She stared at me slightly confused, both of us very well know that she had gone through that contract again and again and I was the one who waxed the contract to her. She stood up and excused herself.
"What was that for Lucas?"
"It was obvious you weren't comfortable with that woman, so you should be thanking me".
"Goodnight wanker, am of to bed, I was actually feeling sleepy not uncomfortable but thank you all the same".
"Goodnight my lady".
The next day, a smart and beautiful Delilah joined in the car. When we arrived at Grey's, we were ushered into the meeting room. My father entered first. I held Delilah's hand, giving it a tight squeeze, letting her know that she has my full support. We entered the room and I watched Delilah's eyes turned dark when she saw Jake and a pregnant Juliana.
